180,000 Household Has Received Seedlings Under Soludo’s Administration: Ihejiofor

Anambra Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Forster Ihejiofor says the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo has purchased and distributed two million, two hundred thousand coconut and oil palm seedlings.

Speaking in an interview with House of Assembly Correspondents after the bilateral discussion and budget defence before the House Committee on Agriculture and food security, the Commissioner revealed that the implementation for this years budget under the Ministry of Agriculture is 50 percent.

“Fortunately, one hundred and eighty thousand households in Anambra State have received between ten to twenty seedlings. When you look at the economic potentials of this seedlings, in the next four – seven years, when they must have produced and yield fruits, those families will be out of poverty.

” In 2026, Mr. Governor has proposed and promised to empower a minimum of hundred thousand Anambra Households again with very important economic seedlings.

” Because of the kind of land we have in Anambra State, an average family owns two or three plots which makes it easy for them to plant.

“In 2026, apart from coconut and oil palm seedlings, we also have ukwa, bitter kola. Their is a budget to procure and distribute them. Because of the short supply of this products, they are really expensive in the market.

” The State is leveraging on Public, Private, Community Partnership (PPCP) in enhancing agricultural productivity. We have some companies and communities that have land. For example, in Ayamelum, companies and firms that are in Anambra tight now and we are working on and MAU with them in enhancing the productivity of rice.

“In the coming year, we are going to party with this groups in training our farmers and demonstrate how rice productivity can be product to as much as ten tons per hecter.

” We are working on educational infrastructure in multiple places within the state, to make it possible forbpeople to produce food round the year.

“We are also working on introduction of smart technology in both nourishing the plants”. Ihejiofor explained.
