The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar, has promised to give the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) a mayoral status and enhance the security of the territory if elected.
Speaking at the PDP presidential campaign rally in Abuja yesterday, Atiku told his supporters and party chieftains that if elected, the inhabitants of the FCT would get their constitutional due.
The former vice president, who was reacting to an earlier plea by the senator representing the FCT, Philip Aduda, that the inhabitants of the area want a second tier of government even if it was a mayor, said, “All your entitlements under the current constitution, all the appointments that belong to Abuja will be given to Abuja. You know that we have done so before and we are going to do it again.”
