2023: Onaiyekan, Khalid Differ On State Of Nation, Muslim-Muslim Ticket Of APC

The Metropolitan Catholic Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, and a popular Muslims cleric and former Chief Imam of Apo Legislative Quarters Juma’at Mosque, Abuja, Sheikh Mohammad Nura Khalid, have differed on the state of the nation and the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The duo spoke at the 70th anniversary and commemoration lecture of the National Association of Seadogs (NAS) with the theme, ‘The State of the Nation’ on Saturday in Abuja.

Onaiyekan said that he does not believe Nigeria has reached a state of total anarchy as the flag of the nation was still flying though it was “dirty and tattered.”

According to him, there might be a few people who are in and outside of government who might be happy with the present situation, as they may be beneficiaries of the performance of the government.

But, in a counter argument, former Chief Imam of Apo Legislative Quarters Juma’at Mosque, Abuja, Sheikh Mohammad Nura Khalid said Nigeria is sick and needs a healer to heal it irrespective of religion or ethnic consideration.
