2025: LP Candidate, George Moghalu inaugurates campaign council, insists Peter Obi still in LP

The Governorship Candidate of Labour Party, Dr George Moghalu and his deputy, Mrs Ifeoma Okaro have inaugurated their campaign council to help the party galvanize massive support and win the forthcoming Nov 8 guber poll.

The council which have 20 Directorates and their members, were headed by 20 Directors, 20 Deputy Directors and 20 secretaries, and were drawn from every local government of the state.

While Arc Okey Chukwuogo is the Director-General of the Campaign Council, Engr Dr Epi Okoye will serve as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governorship Candidate and Campaign Council, and Ven Chris Onyejekwe takes charge as Special Adviser on Special Duties.

Inaugurating the campaign council at Jesse Hotel Awka, Dr Moghalu charged the members to brace up for the task ahead, reminding them that the battle to unseat an incumbent is not an easy one.

“This election is not a tea party,” he stressed. “It’s not a game you play with snuff in your hands. Removing an incumbent even the weak one we currently have is never easy. But it is possible. It has happened before, both here in Anambra and in other states.

“We must never forget that elections are won at the polling units, not at the state capital. That’s where our strength will be tested. I’m grateful you’ve chosen to work with me not for me as stakeholders in this movement.

“We must be united, committed, and fully dedicated. There’s much to gain if we win and everything to lose if we don’t.”

Dr Moghalu made it clear that Mr Peter Obi is still in Labour Party, stressing that any such coalition with African Democratic Congress (ADC) is only relevant to the 2027 general elections, and not the upcoming Anambra governorship contest.

“There’s no iota of truth in the rumour,” Moghalu said. “It’s being circulated by those threatened by the strength, popularity, and growing acceptability of the Labour Party in Anambra.

When the propaganda first started that our leader, Mr. Peter Obi, had left the Labour Party, he publicly debunked it. He reaffirmed his commitment to the party and even promised to attend our campaign rally this Friday in Onitsha.”

Earlier, the National Deputy Chairman of LP, Mr Clement Ojukwu urged the members to be ambassadors by marketing George Muoghalu to win the election while delivering selflessly on their mandate.

On his part, the State Chairman of LP, Mr Ugochukwu Emeh expressed deep optimism that the party will emerge victorious in the guber election.

“We are going into this election to come first and win the poll because our candidate is spiritually, financially and physically prepared.”

Responding, a female member of the campaign council, Barr Oge Ekweozor urged all members of the council to work towards delivering their mandate.###
