A Socialite and political mobiliser has told Igbo communities they should hold him personally accountable if President Bola Tinubu wins re-election but fails to fulfil his commitments to the South-East.
Chief Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana and South-East coordinator of the City Boy Movement, made the pledge during a one-day town hall meeting and membership drive held at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka.
“Hold me [accountable] if Tinubu doesn’t deliver his promises to Ndigbo,” Iyiegbu said, addressing supporters of the movement.
He assured participants that the City Boy Movement was actively engaged in negotiations on behalf of Igbo interests. “The movement is on the table and will negotiate the interests of Ndi Igbo,” he stated.
National coordinator of the movement, Hon. Francis Shoga, urged Igbo people to abandon any sense of political isolation and support Tinubu’s re-election bid. He argued that the president commands a broader national coalition and should be allowed to complete ongoing economic reforms so that Nigerians can begin to benefit from the administration’s policies.
Other speakers, including Anambra state coordinator Mr Nonso Ozoemena, state woman leader Adaora Soludo and deputy national woman leader Sophie Uzodimma, echoed the call for Igbo youths in particular to join the movement and work towards securing a second term for Tinubu.
