23 Steps Good Fathers Give

Happy Fathers’ Day, friends. In the spirit of the celebration, here are 23 steps every good father should pass his children. If you have not been equipped for any of these steps, get to work upgrading yourself to the latest version of Good Fatherhood.

23 things every father must teach his son:

1. Stand up to shake someone’s hand: This is the most polite thing to do. It will endear them to hearts. 

2. Open the door for a woman: Make him a perfect gentleman. He will go farther in life when he treats his women right. 

3. How to fight: Self defense skills makes your kids ever ready and more confident beings. 

4. How to iron a shirt: He must know how to look good. Looking good is good business. 

7. Don’t show off: You attract enemies when you are seen to be loud. We need to change that narrative other tribes have of Ndi. Igbo; namely; loud people. What better place to start than with your kids. Your son. 

8. Admit when you’re wrong: This softens hearts in no small way. When he apologises for the right reasons. He does not dehumanize himself while at it, though. Still chin up. 

9. Do what you say you’re doing: Keep your word. You will gain a lot of milestone as an honest man. He should know this.

10. How to speak in public: Those that know how to communicate very well have greater chances of surviving than those who don’t. 

11. Teach an instrument: It is ideal one knows to play at least one instrument.

12. Say please and thank you: There is no other way you are welcome to higher social class than through cordiality and etiquette.

13. How to shoot a gun: Yes, every man and woman should be taught. The times we are in demand we be prepared. While I advocate for peace; I should be prepared for its opposite. So should your Son.

14. How to swim: Go and learn. Survival is a must. The more his survival skills, the longer he lives. 

15. The importance of hard work: Nothing is more fulfilling. The process is sweeter than the product. 

16. The importance of physical abilities: The more problems you can solve, the more you smile to the bank. 

17. Always give your 120%: Yes, do more than you are expected to. This carries serious charismatic energy.

18. The power of willpower: Teach him to appreciate his visions and dreams and to treat them as real.

19. Celebrate the success of others: You get grace to succeed when you sincerely celebrate others’.

20. Forgive: Give everyone an open cheque of forgiveness. He should start from his siblings. You should demonstrate it tot him every chance you have.

21. Be honest: Honesty is the best policy.

22. Practice gratitude: When you appreciate you attract more.

23. Don’t take things personally: Teach him to always see incidences through the prism of profit and loss.
