The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its governorship campaign council ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State
The campaign council was inaugurated by the APC Chairman, Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni, at the APC National Secretariat, in Abuja, on Tuesday 17th August 2021.
The council, which is to be headed by Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma, also has Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege; Deputy Speaker Idris Wase; Minister of State for Petroleum Timipre Sylva; Senator Orji Uzor Kalu; Senator George Akume; some former governors; ministers; and party chieftains as members.
Ebonyi State governor, Dave Umahi, is deputy to Uzodimma, while his counterpart from Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will head the finance sub-committee. Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State will head the special intervention sub-committee, while Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, will chair the security committee.
Buni charged the campaign council to ensure Senator Andy Uba emerges victorious in the poll. Urging the council to reconcile persons aggrieved over the outcome of the Anambra State governorship primary, he expressed optimism that Anambra would join the rank of APC states after the poll.
“I am glad to say with a sense of satisfaction that the growing fortunes of the party in Anambra State and the southeast geopolitical zone, in general, has increased our hope for victory. This will no doubt increase our chance of winning the election with a landslide victory.
“May I call on the committee to concentrate on issues that will add value to the success of the party and avoid issues that may distract us from the path of victory. We should remain resolute, committed, and law-abiding throughout the assignment and beyond,” Buni said.
The CECPC also called on the party’s stakeholders and members to support the committee in achieving its set target of delivering Anambra to APC.
“To the people of Anambra, this is an opportunity to belong to the national party. We should all support the committee for a successful assignment for a brighter future and for the good of the state,” he said.
In his remarks, Uzodimma assured that the committee would do everything legally possible to win the state for APC. He said that the committee would leverage the Federal Government’s achievements to ensure victory for the party.
He thanked the party leadership for the confidence reposed in members of the committee, promising that it would deliver on its mandate.
“We will speak with the people of Anambra; we will sign a contract with them and I am sure that God willing, we shall deliver. All I ask of us is to work hard so that this opportunity presented by the gubernatorial election in Anambra completely integrates the people of the South-East zone into the national polity
“We are going there committed; we are going there willingly. I have seen a new determination, even among our brothers and sisters in Anambra. God will help us to realise our noble dream. We will not disappoint you,” Uzodimma said.

Party Stakeholders and Supporters here present,
Gentlemen of the Press,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am delighted to be with you here this afternoon to inaugurate the National campaign committee for the Anambra state governorship election. This underscores the importance the party attaches to this very important committee and the task before you.
The members of the committee were carefully selected owing to your individual capacities and the believe that you will collectively as a committee deliver the state to the party.
You are enjoined to work as a team and to carry everyone on board. You are also advised to reconcile seeming differences within members of the party which might have arise following the governorship primary, for us to confront the election with a united front.
I have no doubt this powerful committee under the chairmanship of His Excellency Governor Hope Izoduma of Imo state, will do us proud and capture Anambra state to APC.
I am glad to say with sense of satisfaction the growing fortunes of the party in Anambra state and the South East geopolitical zone in general has increased our hope for victory. This will no doubt increase our chance of winning the election with landslide victory.
