* In recognition of her support to the educational sector, women and youth empowerment as well as attracting POWA Skills Acquisition Centre to the community, Ukpo town in Anambra State held a royal reception in honour of Mrs Ikemi Echeng, wife of the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State on May 30, 2023. Echeng is also the Chairperson, Police Officers Wives Association Anambra State Chapter. The ceremony was presided over by His Majesty Igwe Dr Robert Chukwudilim Eze (Okofia Vi) Igwe Ukpo and Clan Head of Dunukofia Ancient Kingdom.

* Anambra State Commissioner for Homeland Security, Chikodili Anara has denied allegation against him by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), stating that he was using state security operatives, Anambra Vigilante Services to cause insecurity in the state. IPOB had, through a press statement signed by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, levelled numerous accusations against Anara.

* Reactions and commendations from stakeholders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) continues as Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, thirty other officers were on Wednesday May 31 2023 elected in Awka, Anambra state. ANN reports that the party also reconstituted its Board of Trustees (BOT), naming former governor Willie Obiano as chairman. Other members of the board included; the out-gone national chairman, Victor Oye; governorship candidate of the party in Enugu, Frank Nweke Junior; Senator representing Abia Southz Enyinaya Abaribe; former member representing Orumba North and South in the House of Representatives, Hon Ben Nwankwo as well as the speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Uchenna Okafor among others.

* The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, (AiRS), Mr Richard Nwora Madiebo, has resigned from his position. ANN gathered that Madiebo, shared the news with staff of the agency at Revenue House, Agu Awka, earlier today, Thursday, 1st June, 2023.

* The immediate Past Anambra State Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sir Norbert Obi on Thursday June 1, 2023 handed over officially to his successor Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye at the state secretariat, Agu-Awka. Obi expressed delight with the emergence of Obi-Okoye as the new helmsman of APGA in Anambra State, stating that he is sure that his successor would bring his wealth of experience to bear in the administration of the party in the state. 

* Due to resurgence of touts’ activities and illegal revenue collectors in Anambra State roads and markets, the President-General of Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA), Chief Humphrey Anuna has assured of their preparedness to stem the tide. Anuna, while fielding questions from newsmen in his office at Modebe Avenue Onitsha, Anambra State, noted that the issue of touts and illegal revenue had become a nuisance in the state.

* In order to solidify the security architecture of the Market, the President general of Ogbaru Main Market, near Onitsha, Anambra State, Mr. Ndubuisi Ochiogu has commenced another phase of installation of solar lights in major streets around the Market. Speaking to newsmen, the President General of the Market, Mr. Ndubuisi Ochiogu revealed that some stakeholders and friends in the Market are behind the few solar lights mounted when they noticed his plans of mounting solar lights around the Market streets.

* At least two men were feared dead with scores sustaining different degrees of injuries during a raid by operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in in the popular Bridge Head Market, Onitsha, on Tuesday.

Although there has been no official confirmation of the incident, a trader who preferred anonymity said the casualties were recorded when someone raised an alarm that unknown gunmen were invading the market.

* Anambra State Chief Judge Hon. Justice Onochie Anyachebelu has tasked lawyers to maintain professional conducts, ethics, etiquettes, discipline and promote good relationship among members of the bar and bench.

Commissioning the newly erected magnificent and ultramodern Idemili Bar Center at the premises of High Court Ogidi, Anyachebelu, after commending all those who donated towards making the construction of the bar centre a reality, advised the members of the Nigeria Bar Association to use the facility towards maintenance of the integrity of bar and bench.
