* The Transition Committee Chairman for Nnewi South Local Government Area, Anambra State, Hon. Ikenna Aniagboso, has called on the people of the council area and Anambra State at large to keep supporting the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to enable it achieve its vision for the state. Aniagboso made the call while addressing some members and stakeholders of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Amichi Ward 2, Nnewi South Local Government Area, where he also urged the Party members to remain faithful, steadfast and committed towards the growth of the Party in the Local Government, the State and beyond.
* A rights activist in Anambra State, Osita Obi, has alleged that the Anambra State governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has caused both psychological and emotional trauma to his wife by demolishing a house she built with her life savings, including gratuity, in Awka, the Anambra State capital. He lamented that his wife’s health is now in serious danger as a result of the action of the Soludo’s government.
* The Nigeria Immigration Service Anambra State Command has promoted 46 officers to various ranks.The officers includes six Deputy Comptrollers, seven Assistant Comptrollers, one Chief Superintendent of Immigration, four Superintendent of Immigration. Others were; 11 Deputy Superintendent of Immigration, one Assistant Superintendent of Immigration 1 and 16 Assistant Superintendent of Immigration 2
* The member elects for Aguata One Constituency, Honourable Anayor Okpalaeke says Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s novel works have launched Anambra State into a foreseeable future of greatness in socio-economic development. The legislator disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Awka. He noted that over three hundred kilometers of roads awarded by Governor Soludo with some completed, will help manufacturers site more factories in rural areas to open up the places that were not put into consideration by successive administrations, thereby creating more employment opportunities for the youths.
* The coalition of civil societies under the aegis of Campaign for Democracy, South-East zone and the Human Rights, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders’ Foundation, HURIDE – have raised concerns over alleged extortions, stealing, harassments, killings and illegal arrests carried out at checkpoints by naval ratings along Atani Road in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State. This is just as the groups lamented that the naval officers, who are supposed to provide security have now become a threat to security as they continue to carry out “illicit” activities unabated at the several road blocks they have mounted along the ever busy road.
* The member elects for Aguata Two Constituency, Honourable Tony Muobuike has appreciated his constituents for electing him to represent them in the coming eight Assembly, assuring them that he will live up to expectations and urged them to remain supportive of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration to enable him realize his vision of building a prosperous home land for Ndi Anambra.
Muobuike commended the Governor’s spectacular performance in health, internally generated revenue, security, provision of infrastructure among others, assuring him of his maximum cooperation with his administration to build a better state with opportunities for all.
* The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council has commended the Professor Chukwuma Soludo led government for embarking on massive road construction and rehabilitation across the state. The Council gave the commendation in a communiqué issued at the end of its June edition of the monthly congress, held at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Center Awka. The communiqué, signed by the chairman of the council, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, and the Secretary, Comrade Aloysius Ofodile, noted that the importance of good road network cannot be overemphasized and urged the government to continue.
* It was a terrific scene in Anambra State, as heavy flood swept away a woman in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area of the State, following a heavy downpour that badgered during the day. According to eyewitness, the incident happened after the victim came out from the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) where she went to perform some transactions.
* After over a decade of planning, Peter University is ready to commence operation with a distinctive intellectual mission. Located in Achina, AguataLocal Government Area of Anambra State, Peter University is a citadel with a strong foundation over a decade of planning and mobilisation of resources for it. The university is commencing operation with four major faculties, comprising 12 departments, 23 courses – all of which the National University Commission (NUC) has approved worthy of awarding bachelorette degrees. The faculties are Science and Computing; Arts, Social and Management Sciences; Law and Health Sciences.
