* A community leader in Anambra West Local Government Area, Dr Chris Okonkwo, has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the on-going construction of Mmiata-Anam-Nzam Road. Okonkwo, who gave this commendation at his home town, Umuoba Aboegbu Anam, said that what Soludo has done is a big relief to the people of the area, who according to him, have suffered untold hardship for more than three decade
* Tansian University Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area has matriculated over five hundred new students into different programmes offered by the University. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Eugene Nwadialor in his speech during the event pointed out that the institution is poised towards offering quality education to her students in safe and secured environment within stipulated time frame, emphasizing that discipline remains the watch word of the institution.
* The executive governor of Anambra state Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has charged education officers to exhibit high standard of fidelity in the conduct of the forthcoming 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE. Soludo reminded them of the zero-tolerance posture of his administration to examination malpractice and while appreciating them for their support that has resulted to the achievements of the education sector, urged them to close ranks and ensure that this year’s BECE in the state was conducted with the highest level of credibility.
* The Bishop on The Niger, the Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo said that a good shepherd must always put the welfare of the flock before his own comfort. Speaking on the theme of the Second Session of the 32nd Synod of Diocese on The Niger “Feed My Lambs” at St. John’s Anglican Church, Fegge in Onitsha South Council Area, Bishop Nwokolo explained that the lamb symbolizes the innocent, the defenseless, and new converts who should be properly guided and protected, stressing that true love for Christ will be devotion to the duty which he has laid upon us.
* The Commissioner for Information Anambra state, Sir Paul Nwosu says a child is supposed to be treasured, cared for and educated, pointing out that child labour stunts the physical and mental development of a child. According to Nwosu, child labour also affects children socially and morally and equally expose them to child abuse such as rape, battering, starvation among others.
* All is set for the first edition of the Conference on Ogbunike Culture/Tradition slated to hold on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the town hall. The event is themed “Ogbunike Cultural Revival, Challenges and Prospects in a Digital Era”. It will feature both virtual sessions and the physical event in Ogbunike, to be hosted by the Ogbunike Critical Stakeholders under the auspices of Team Make Ogbunike Great(TMOG). * Workers at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka are jittery and apprehensive as Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo installs Time and Attendance Machines to check lateness to duty, truancy,, unnecessary absenteeism and ghost workers respectively. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ben Afam Obidike who disclosed the strategic plan to ensure efficient service delivery at the hospitals as the governor directed, said the time and attendance machines would be installed in all the General Hospitals in Anambra state to enable government track and trail workers’ response to duty calls.
* Anambra State Ministry of Education has given approval for the introduction of ‘Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo’ in primary and secondary schools in the state. Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo is a new project and social campaign of the Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo.
According to governor’s wife, it is an open forum for hygiene and right health enthusiasts, driven by ethics and passion.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka, has said that days were gone for diesel-powered streetlights in the State. Chukwuemeka while speaking in Awka, revealed that the state government had long begun to convert the diesel-powered streetlights in the state to solar-powered streetlights. According to him, about seven thousand (7000) diesel-powered streetlights in the state were converted to solar in the First Phase of the exercise, while the ongoing Second Phase targets conversion of over eleven thousand (11,000) diesel-powered streetlights to solar. He added that by the time the Second Phase of the exercise would be completed, over eighteen thousand (18,000) streetlights must have been converted to solar.
