* The Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, ASHIA, is set to increase its drug tariff a second time within one year to protect beneficiaries from suffering catastrophic health expenditure. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ASHIA, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi, stated this during a quarterly meeting with the Medical Directors and Hospital Administrators of all ASHIA accredited hospitals in the state, held at the ASHIA’s Headquarters Awka.
Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze says the state legislature under his watch will come up with a legal framework for the developmental strides of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, adding that the lawmakers are ready to key into the Governor’s drive. Udeze also called on ndi Anambra both home and in the diaspora to embrace the unprecedented developmental changes being introduced in the state by Governor Chukwuma Soludo. Speaking when members of Soludo Solution Movement paid him a courtesy visit in his office, the Speaker described the massive transformation of Soludo administration is undertaking in all the twenty one local government areas of the state as impressive, calling on the people to reciprocate the gesture by giving the Governor the necessary support.
* The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Tuesday morning said that it stopped using the print-out currently being paraded by Anambra candidate, Mmesoma Ejikeme as her authentic result in 2021. The board also reiterated its position that the UTME result paraded by “Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma is patently fake.” In a statement made available to our correspondent on Tuesday morning by the Board’s spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB insisted that only Mmesoma paraded the“obsolete” notification slip out of all the candidates that sat the 2023
UTME.
* The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State ICT Agency, Mr. Fred Agbata has said that the proposed ICT policy framework will help Anambra State keep pace with the technological advancement of the world. In a press statement to explain the gains of the framework to Ndi Anambra, Mr Agbata said that all is set for Anambra to host the first ever ICT Stakeholders’ Engagement Workshop which according to him will review and finetune the proposed State ICT Policy Framework, crafted by the Anambra State ICT Agency.
* Anambra First Lady Mrs. Nonye Soludo has allayed notions that cleft deformities are not treatable, maintaining that they are hundred percent curable, with many children already lined up for surgeries which are done free of charge in the state. The Governor’s wife while speaking in Awka, appealed to residents of the state especially community leaders and heads of religious institutions, to help with grassroots mobilization to discover and bring out more children living with cleft problems for immediate treatment.
* The Chief Whip of the 8th legislature of Anambra State assembly, Hon. Jude Chimezie Ngobili says he will deploy his office to ensure a rancour-free legislature as the House of Assembly reconvenes for plenary on 11th July, 2023. Ngobili who also represents Ihiala 1 state constituency in the 8th assembly, said as a lawyer of over 30 years of legal practice, he would ensure harmony amongst dissenting voices and equally ensure that constructive criticism is upheld during legislative sessions, stressing that the Anambra project is a collective responsibility.
* Some residents of Ngozika Housing Estate, Awka, Anambra State, are lamenting over threat to their safety by the perennial flooding which wreaks havoc in the estate. One of the residents and Chairman, Ngozika Estate Residents Association, Sir Charles Mbakigwe, said the situation had been in existence since 2012, but the worst happened five years ago at the Priests’ House, with the next one pulling down some buildings.
* The Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA), Ogbaru branch zonal leader, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu has joined his voice in felicitating the speaker of 8th Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt, Hon. Sir. Somtochukwu Nkem Udeze. Ochiogu in his felicitation stated that Governor Chukwuma Soludo deserves commendations for his magnanimous acts to open his arms and received Udeze as the speaker of 8th Assembly of the State. He noted that Udeze has the capacity to deliver and consolidate the efforts of Governor Soludo is not in doubt.
* Scores of traders, predominantly widows on has protested alleged plot by leadership of Onitsha South Local Government Area headquarters, Anambra State, to eject them from Oduigbo section of the Ochanja Central market. The protesters, carrying placards with various inscriptions accused Council chairman, Emeka Orji of collaborating with chairman of the market, Chief Bonaventure Muo to eject them in the guise of building modern shops.
