* Civil Liberties Organization CLO Anambra State Branch has lauded governor Charles Soludo for paying impromptu visits to some on going projects in the state for on the spot assessment and verification of true situation and to see things for himself, get feedback from citizens to ensure improved service delivery and sustainable development. CLO made the remarks in a press statement issued to newsmen tagged”public funds must be use for public good”endorsed by Evangelist Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme Chairman and Comrade Chidi Mbah Secretary described the action as a step in the right direction and welcome development that will certainly accelerates savings and prudent management of meagre resources of state and ensuring welfare, wellbeing and interest of the citizens.
* Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Managing Director, Anambra State Road Maintenance Agency (ARMA) to urgently do a pallative work on the failed portion of the Nnokwa-Nnobi road. Member representing Idemili South constituency Hon. Igwe Chukwuebuka the chief sponsor of the motion during his presentation stated that
the provision of Section 15 (3) (a) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, provides that the State shall be responsible for providing adequate facilities so as to ease the free movement of people, goods and services throughout the Federation.
* As Anambra women take part in this year’s August meeting, Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo has urged them to teach their children basic etiquettes and respect for culture.
Mrs Soludo stated this while interacting with wives of traditional rulers at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
* The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor has eulogized Governor Chukwuma Soludo on the ongoing Ekwulobia flyover project at the former Ekwulobia round—about. Bishop Ezeokafor while commending Soludo for taking the tough decision of taking development to Ekwulobia round-about, has urged ndi Anambra, residents of Ekwulobia and all those whose properties were affected in the course of carrying out the project, to excercise patience and be reminded that positive disruption requires sacrifices.
* Awka South Local Government boss Hon. ThankGod Anagor (JP) has beefed up security personnel aimed at maintaining peace and order amidst sit-at-home threats. The objective of the operation was to endure peace and the safety of residents as they go about their normal business. The security threats posed by unknown gunmen, leading to growing fear and unrest among the local population prompted a rapid response to the challenge by LG boss. He deployed security outfit comprising police and Vigilante group to address the situation
* The Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) Youths in a general meeting at the Asatu Secretariat, Government House, Awka, completed it’s constitution review by observing the third and final reading of the constitution.
ANN reports that the number one youth association of the state after several months of consultations, reviews and meetings, adopted a standard document to stir the association towards the right direction with a new vision framework.
* Anambra state House of Assembly has called on the Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the commissioner for transport and other relevant agencies to immediately commence a clampdown on motorist, and motorcycle using artificial headlamps at nights. The member representing Anaocha 2 Constituency, Hon. Ejike Okechukwu the chief sponsor of the motion during his presentation stated that it is wrong for most motorists, especially truck drivers to install added fog lamps in their vehicles.
* Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo has explained that her healthy living crusade is a long-term passion that seeks to address wrong health habits particularly among women and children.
Mrs Soludo stated this in Awka while speaking on Nzuko Anambra, a radio show hosted by Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS. Explaining that her healthy living campaign has spanned across over a decade, the governor’s wife said she began the movement out of deep passion, having survived serious health threat because of wrong health habits.
* An Administrative building for Surveyors Council Of Nigeria, SURCON has been commissioned for immediate services in Awka, Anambra State. The building which Woll serve as regional office for South East, South South and South West is SURCON’s identity. Opening the regional office, Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo said that Anambra State is the only state in the southern region that provided land for the building of the office. Soludo represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Lands, Mr Edwin Ejike who said the office will be beneficial to the state.
