Plenary: Anambra Market Safety Bill Passes First Reading

A bill for a law to ensure the safety and protection of markets in Anambra state has been red for the first at plenary on Tuesday August 15.

Chief Sponsor of the bill… Hon. Kingsley Udemezue

The member representing Idemili North constituency Hon. Kingsley Udemezue who sponsored the bill, while speaking with house correspondents after plenary said the Anambra state market safty bill is all about provision of security for the markets.

According to Hon. Udemezue, “We are entering into hamatan and dry season which is prone to fire, the bill helps to put in place security measures like fire disaster management, instant aid against fire outbrakes.

“Some markets don’t have tiolets or restroom for visitors. We are trying to make our markets to be standard.

” Markets need to have a borehole with fire service agancy on standby.

” There will be CCTV mounted for security reasons. The roads to the market will be made accessable and road traders and hawkers will be cleared.

“When we get to the committee stage, we will do the necessary arrangement, additions and subtractions’. Udemezue declared
