* Nawgu Development Union in collaboration with the General Hospital Nawgu has enrolled more Indigenes of the community into the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) and also carried out free medical outreach.The enrollment and outreach was held at the hospital’s premises in Nawgu, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Anambra State. Speaking at the event, the Chief Medical Director of the General Hospital, Nawgu, Dr Chidinma Olour said that the primary purpose of the outreach, which included health talks, consultation, medical test, drugs, others was to encourage the people of the community to seek proper medical treatment from the hospital.

has sounded a wake up call for all Patrons of the NUJ to strongly identify with the union and play their advisory roles while alive and not for the families to only remember they are NUJ Patrons only at death. Odogwu made the call at the August congress held at the Godwin Ezemo press center, Awka. He reminded that Patrons are responsible to guide the union for a better union in all ramifications and not just for the name sake.
* Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) has trained road sweepers on best practices. The workshop which took place at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat complex Awka recently witnessed the assemblage of over four hundred road sweepers from across the state being tutored on the vision of the state government on environmental cleanliness.
* There have been recurring cases of cult clashes in Awka, Anambra State capital arising from supremacy tussle among various groups. The member representing Awka South One constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Henry Nigeria Mbachu has called on stakeholders in the area to join hands to tackle cult killings in Awka. Hon. Mbachu made the call during a recent stakeholders meeting with chairmen of all the villages that make up the state constituency.

* The people of Isuaniocha Community in Awka North local government area of Anambra State has rejected the traditional ruler issued certificate of recognition by Governor Chukwuma Soludo. In a peaceful protest to the Anambra state government House, Awka, the people numbering over over one thousand said what the Community needed at the moment was nothing but peace and not imposition of a traditional ruler by few cabals who do not mean well for the town.
