* The Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, is mulling over building clinics in markets in the state. To that end, the state government in collaboration with the leadership of Onitsha Main Market have concluded plans to unveil the first-ever clinic in the market. The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike who disclosed this during his visit to the market said that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s agenda in the health sector will soon reach all the markets across the state, with the sole intention of achieving universal health coverage for all.
* In his efforts to support Governor Charles Soludo’s operation Clean, Green and Sustainable programme, the President General of Ogbaru Main Market, Anambra State, Mr. Ndubuisi Patrick Ochiogu has began to fumigate all nooks and crannies of the market in order to get rid of mosquitoes and dangerous crawling insects in the market. Conducting newsmen round the market, Mr. Ochiogu disclosed that he has also finished his first and second phase of installations of solar lights inside and outside the market and he deemed it necessary to fumigate the market to ensure that it is free from both mosquitoes, diseases and harmful insects
* Anambra State Commissioner for Housing Hon. Pauly Onyeka says the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo is doing its best in making sure that the tax payers money are diligently utilized. Speaking in an interview with reporters after appearing before Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Account on Friday, headed by Hon. Nobel Chukwunonso Igwe, the commissioner revealed that the ministry of housing are currently handling many projects.
* Onitsha Police Area Commander, Mr.Gregory Itembore, an Assistant Commissioner of Police has received an award of recognition for his innovative security measures,human rights and public relations disposition in policing. The conferment which took place in Onitsha recently attracted senior colleagues, friends and well wishers. Presenting the award, publisher, Forward Newspaper Publishing Company, Ms. Vivian Okafor who showered encomiums on the recipient for his brilliant performance within his brief sojourn in Onitsha Area Command said that the purpose of the award was to recognise silent achievers like Gregory Itembore.
* Indigenes of Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the new Transition Committee Chairman Hon. Anayochukwu Orjiako. The indigenes who took turns to speak on the capacity and capability of the new local government boss during the formal handover ceremony held at the council secretariat Ihiala, concurred that Hon. Anayochukwu Orjiako has the education and exposure to propel grassroots development especially as he has placed utmost priority on security and overall well-being of Ndi-Ihiala.
* A significant move towards strengthening project management and governance in the state was made as representatives from the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) and the Department of Strategy, Execution and Evaluation (SEE) visited the ICT Agency headquarters, in the government house, Awka.
The visit outlined two themes that underscores Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to efficient management and simplified operations in the state.
* The Anambra State, Coordinator, Nigeria Human Rights Commission, Awka, Bar. Obinna Maduforo has vowed that the Commission would not leave any stone unturned to ensure that the perpetrators of all human rights abuse, obnoxious practices against widows and defilement of teenage girls in the State, end up in police net for prosecution with stiffer punishment. The Coordinator, who made the vow, when he led some management staff of the Commission to a courtesy call on the State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA) Sir Joseph Uchendu at the Corporate Headquarters of the Agency in Awka,regretted the increased occurrence of cases of human rights abuse, obnoxious practices against widows and defilement of the girl child in Anambra State on daily basis.
* The National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Sly Ezeokenwa has facilitated the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr. Victor Ike Oye on his Award of Excellence in Entrepreneurship and Human Capital Development. In a statement signed by the special adviser on media and publicity to the National Chairman of APGA, Dr. Tony Olisa Mbeki, he said that the award was bestowed to Ike Oye by the Department of Entrepreneurship Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka in partnership with the Institute of Professional Entrepreneur and Strategic Administrator ( IPESA)
