Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has officially launched the provision of antenatal and delivery services free of cost in all government-owned hospitals and health centers.
Governor Soludo who launched the initiative at General Hospital, Nnobi as part of efforts to cushion the effects of the petrol subsidy removal, stressed that the programme will run for as long as he is the Governor.
The Governor said that in line with the APGA mantra of “Be Your Brother’s Keeper”, his administration is prioritizing the health of pregnant mothers, urging them not to abuse it.
He assured that Agulu/Nnobi road will be repaired with complete marking, as soon as possible, directing the Commissioner for Works to commence measurement of the Awka-Etiti-Nnokwa and Nnobi Ring road which he said will be done in stages.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike said that the initiative is to make sure that ndị Anambra enjoyed good health, recalling the some positive initiatives designed to increase quality health care in the state which include training of 500 health workers under the employ of the state government and the staffing of all public hospitals in the state with doctors and nurses.
The Commissioner for Culture and Entertainment, Mr. Don Onyenji and the Transition Committee Chairman for Idemili South, Mrs. Ify Obi described the Governor as a passionate leader and appreciated his laudable initiatives in the state.
