* Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has congratulated the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, the Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor who clocked seventy-one years on September 13, 2023. Soludo in a congratulatory message described Bishop Ezeokafor as a guiding light in the Catholic community who has impacted the people positively with love and compassion, and unwavering commitment to the service of the Lord.
* The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved the release of the sum of One Billion, Nine Hundred and Ninety-Five Million, Four Hundred and Five Thousand, One Hundred and Eight Naira (N1,995,405,108) inclusive of Preliminaries, Contingencies, and 7.5% VAT of N149,655,,383.1 for the construction of Uga-Nkpologwu Road with a Spur to Amesi road within Aguata LGA in favour of APOGEE Engineering Ltd. Date of completion is a period of Ten (10) Months from the date of the payment of the mobilization fee. According to the Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, also approved by ANSEC is the release of the sum of Eight Billion, Six Hundred and Eighty-Two Million, Five Hundred and Seventy-One Thousand, Seven Hundred and Forty-Seven Naira (N8,682,571,747) for the construction of Amansea-Ifite Road-Aroma-Overpass-Ekwueme-Government House Road.
* Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye said that the command is committed to providing adequate security to the residents of the state without fear or favour.
Adeoye disclosed this when he led some top officers of the command paid a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Awka, Obi Gibson Nwosu at his palace in Awka.
* One year after a deadly attack on his convoy by gunmen, Senator representing Anambra South senatorial zone, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has lamented the dead of his aides. Ubah was attacked at Nkwọ Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area on Sunday, September 11, 2022. He lost his trusted personal assistant, a private photographer and two security details attached to him.
* The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to pay members the sum of N900.7 million debt owed to about 70 contractors for diesel supplied to Anambra government in 2022. IPMAN made the appeal in a letter to Soludo which was signed by Mr Chinedu Anyaso and Mr Emeka Iloafor, the chairman and Secretary of the association respectively and made available to journalists in Awka on Wednesday September 13.
* The National President, Igbos for Progressive and United Nationhood, (IPAN) Chief Lawrence Rapuluchukwu Onuzulike has expressed gratitude to the Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo on his recent flag off of free Antenatal Care for pregnant and nursing mothers in all Primary Healthcare centres in the state. Chief Onuzulike who made the remark in a press statement made avaliable to newmen through the Secretary/Media Head, IPAN, Engr. Ozuah Strukture Nnamdi on Sunday, 10th Sept, 2023 equally noted that the group will monitor the exercise to ensure that full compliance and its implementation.
* The traditional ruler of Ifitedunu in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, HRM Igwe Dr. Chukwuemeka Ilouno says one of the things that kills aged persons abandoned by their children faster is loneliness. Eze Dunu Ilouno while speaking in Awka at the lunching of “First Best Domiciliary Home Care World” a Non Govermental Organization (NGO) founded by a United States of America based clinical Psychologist, Prof. Kanayo Ofodili, revealed that old age comes with its challenges and as one gets older, they suddenly relaps to those days of childhood.
* Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo has asked the church to join in the efforts to unite and rebuild the country. Soludo made the call at the 14th General Synod, Church of Nigeria, Nnewi, 2023, which had the theme: “Arise and Build: God’s Mandate For God’s People In A Broken World” held at St Mark’s Anglican Church, Nnewichi, in Nnewi
* Anambra State Board of Internal Revenue Services (AIRS) Chairman, Dr. Greg Ezeilo and the Executive Director Operations of the agency, Dr Christian Madubuko, have traded blames over the revenue profile of the state. The crisis between Ezeilo and Madubuko is also affecting their supporters in the revenue collection of the state.
* The Young Missionary Movement of Nigeria (YOMM) of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province held her 2023 YOMM Provincial Congress at Archbishop A.K. Obiefuna Retreat, Pastoral and Conference Centre, Okpuno, Awka. The three-day event, with the theme, ” Burning Heart, Feet, On The Move” (LUKE 24:32-33). Speaking during the Mass to the representatives and directors of YOMM, the Catholic Bishop of Awka, the host diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, thanked the organizers for choosing the Diocese of Awka for such a great spiritual and holistic exercise.
