* The Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Prof Nkechi Ikediugwu has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for granting free and compulsory basic education to Anambra school children from Nursery to Junior Secondary School three. Ikediugwu described the gesture as first of its kind in the state and agreed with the Governor that education is an opportunity equalizer, therefore every child deserves to be given basic education.

* The new President of the Rotary Club of Awka, Rotarian Chika Ibeneme has promised that the new Rotary year will be impactful. Ibeneme made the promise during his installation marking the beginning of the 2023-2024 Rotary year in Awka.

* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Somtochukwu Udeze has extolled Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s genuine efforts towards advancing education to a higher pedestal in the state. Speaking to newsmen on the Governor’s offer of free education to children in public schools in the state from nursery to junior secondary three, Udeze maintained that Governor Soludo has, through the gesture, demonstrated his deep interest in giving quality education to the children of the state.

* Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has flagged off the first phase of the distribution of 2022 National Special Economic and Livelihood Intervention to persons affected by flood and the vulnerable in the State. ANN reports that the exercise is part of programmes designed by the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA in collaboration with State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA to cushion the devastating effects of flooding in some communities in Anambra State.

* Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Health has urged residents to take advantage of the modern equipment available at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka to meet their different health needs. The Committee made the call at their familiarization visit to the hospital.

* The President, Anambra Sports Club (ASC), Hon. Ikeobi Ejiofor and his team has paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Anambra State Sports Development Commission (ASSDC) to commend him on his effort geared towards Sports development in the state and projecting the state to the world through the instrumentality of sports. The courtesy visit by Hon. Ejiofor was to appreciate the Anambra Sports boss for his doggedness towards taking sports to next level and strengthening the commission with his hard-working efforts which has witnessed immense sports transformation in the state. 

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has assured of reconstructing and rejuvenating Upper Iweka to become a center of admiration. Soludo gave the assurance when he visited the location. The Governor announced that those who do not have business in Upper Iweka should leave because government want to clean up the place, also said that going forward, Motor Parks that do not respect the rules, will be shut down.

* Anambra Female Rugby team have qualified for the Semi-finals of the Rugby event of the ongoing 7th edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) holding at Asaba, Delta State. Chairman of the Anambra State Rugby Association and Board member, Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF), Princess Alban Ugonwaezeh-Agugo expressed her delight with the performance of his girls. Princess Ugonwaezeh-Agugo said the girls are poised to make Anambra proud at the competition by ensuring they get a podium finish while the Gold medal is the target at the ongoing games 7th NYG.

* The Anambra State Director of the Department of State Services, DSS, Mr. David Enoch, who is retiring from service to the nation after thirty years, has received a warm farewell message from colleagues and friends, who gathered to celebrate his distinguished career. Recounting his service in the DSS which started on first April 1993, Mr. Enoch said he has contributed to the agency’s mission of safeguarding national security.
