* The Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) Anambra State office 11, Nnewi has organized Sensitization Workshop on standardisation for all stakeholders in Nnewi and it enviros. The Sensitization Workshop with its theme, ” Expanding Frontier Of Manufacturers Via Standardisation” was held at Martina Chukwuma Plaza, Nnewi, Anambra State and presented by Engineer Onucheyo Enebi Shaiabu.
* The Anambra State Government has restated its plan to provide and maintain functional water facilities in all communities of the State, with an improved access and door-to-door supply to every household. The State’s Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka disclosed this during a joint stakeholders interaction between the government and the indigenes of Neni community in Anaocha Local Government Area of the State, where the government is said to test-run the new model.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barr. Anthony Ifeanya, has described a functional solid mineral development company as a panacea to the problem of solid mineral development in the state. Barr. Ifeanya, who stated this in an interview with journalists in his office in Awka, noted that their interaction with Kaduna State Ministry, revealed the strategic work plan they adopted for successful development of their solid mineral sector which he believes that if properly harnessed in Anambra State, has the potential of becoming one of the most economically viable sectors.
* Anambra State 2023 New Yam Festival will hold on Saturday October 21, in Awka. A statement signed by the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji said the festival will be at Alex Ekwueme Square Awka from nine o’clock in the morning. The Commissioner said the celebration is part of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision to promote and showcase the cultural heritage of the state to the world. Comrade Onyenji said the event will be hosted by Governor Soludo while the traditional ruler of Onitsha and Chairman Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council Igwe Alfred Achebe will be the Royal Father of the day.
* Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has commissioned an ultra-modern multi-million naira security post for the Nigerian Army and other security forces, singlehandedly built and donated by the President-General of Umueri community, Amb. Chief John Chukwudi Metchie.
The security post which is located between the boundaries of Anambra-East and West will help ward off kidnappers, unknown gunmen and other daredevil hoodlums terrorising the area and also help to guarantee a tranquil atmosphere between the two local governments.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has assured the determination of his administration to sustain its rigorous efforts on infrastructural development across the state. Soludo gave the assurance at St. Cletus Catholic Church, Nnewi while celebrating the 40th Priestly anniversary of the Papal Nuncio to Czech Republic, Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo.
* Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo has said that her healthy living crusade is building strong collaboration with youths in order to achieve greater coverage and make the program a dominant social culture in the state.
Mrs Soludo stated this during the community youth engagement for her non-governmental movement, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, at Idemili South Local Government headquarters, Ojoto. The essence of the ongoing grassroots engagements is to expand the scope of the programme to involve youths, who would then lead the campaign in their respective communities.
* Anambra State Local Government Service Commission has been awarded the best state local government commission in adoption of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
The award ceremony was organized by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms of the Presidency under the auspices of Nigeria GOVTECH Public Service Awards, took place at the International Convention Centre, Abuja.
The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, Chairman of Local Government Service Commission, Chief Vincent Ezeaka received the award onbehalf of the government and people of the state.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief (Sir) Chuks Brown Igbonua, says the members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Idemili North are lucky and blessed to have High Chief Sir Barr Ifeatu Obi-Okoye as the current Chairman of the party in Anambra State.
Chief Igboanua who stated this while addressing the executive members of APGA, Idemili North at his office in Ogidi, stated that Chief Obi-Okoye was vast and experienced in party politics.
