* The Anambra state government through the ministry of health has organized a one day seminar for the 21 Local Governments Transition Committee Chairmen, their councilors and directors of health in the various local governments for improved healthcare system.
Anambra Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike who described the seminar as community engagement noted that the ministry wants to restructure the activities of the health development committee which will now be bottom-up approach, from village head down to ward level, local government as well as to the state level.
* Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Managing Director, Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Managing Director of Anambra State Physical Planning Board and the Chairman Material Texting Agency to ensure that building across Anambra State are continuously monitored after initial approval while under construction to ensure strick compliance with all structural regulations to forestall building collapse. Chief Sponsors of the motion Hon. Jude Akpua while making submissions said that the rate of building collapse in the State is at an all time high, which has become a life threatening menace that is now a major cause of deaths and physical injuries to its victims in Anambra State.
* The School of Postgraduate Studies, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, has held a Workshop on Research and Grant Writing themed; “The Implication of Postgraduate Research in an Emerging Economy: The Role of Supervisors and the Supervisees”. The event attracted speakers from both national and international institutions. Prof. Bolanle Otegbayo from Bowen University, Iwo, Prof. Ibrahim Katampe from Central State University, USA, and Prof. Charles Ogbulogo, the Vice Chancellor of Maduka University, Enugu, were the Speakers.
* Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has swears in Bar. (Mrs) Beverly Nkemdiche Ikpeazu as the newly minted Commissioner for Special Duties ANSEC Chambers, Agu Awka. Mrs Nkemdiche Ikpeazu was a three-time member of the Anambra State House of Assembly (2011 – 2023) who represented Onitsha South 2 constituency at the state assembly.
* Former Vice-President of the World Bank – Africa Region, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, has criticized Nigeria’s current democratic practices and the transition of power by Nigerian leaders. She expressed her concerns at the International Hybrid Conference organized by the Unizik Business School (UBS) at the ASUU-NAU Secretariat. The conference’s theme was “Political Transition and Economic Development: The African Experience.”
* Anambra Commissioner of Police CP Aderemi Adeoye has commended Sports Writers Association Nigeria (SWAN) for being at the forefront national unity. CP Adeoye stated this while receiving the newly elected executives of the association at the Command Headquarters, Amawbia. Awka South Local Government Area.
According to Adeoye, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria is an important body and pivotal pillar of journalism in Nigeria .
* A Non-governmental organization, Anambra State Women Association of Southern California, United States of America, has donated medical equipment worth millions of naira to eight primary health care centres in the state.
Speaking during the symbolic handover of the equipment meant for Primary Health Centre, Ogbunike in Oyi Local Governments Area, the president of the association, Mrs. Nnenne Bosah who revealed that they formed the association as sisters and that they had before now donated medical equipment to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku and Onitsha General Hospital, now Federal Medical Centre, Onitsha.
* Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the commissioner for health, woman and social welfare and information to as a matter of urgency raise awarness on the symptoms of breast cancer in other to prevent, control and reduce the risk that is associated with the disease.
Chief sponsor of the motion Hon. Nkechi Ogbuefi in her submission said that in a global effort to raise awareness on breast cancer, October has been designated as the pink month.
* Nigeria Union of Journalist has called on government to intervene quickly on the erosion menace at Ebenato in Nnewi South LGA as it is almost encroaching the nearby school. The union who made the call during there October congress, draw the attention of the state government to other erosion sites in the State particularly the ones that have cut Onitsha-Owerri Road into two and the one at Onitsha-Enugu Express Road. Congress asked the State government to reach out to the Federal Government for urgent resolution.
