* The Dr. Ikechukwu Umeh Students Career Development Initiative, DIUSCADI, in collaboration with Department of Computer Science, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has held the fourth edition of Life-After School Career Development Seminar series. The seminar, which took place at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, had in attendance undergraduates, graduates, members of the academia and resource persons from within and outside the country.
* It was a cultural activities at Obu Gad, Enugwu Aguleri as the sons and daughters of Aguleri embraced their traditional ruler, Eze Chukwuemeka Eri to celebrate this year’s Eri World Festival also known as Olili Obibia Eri. The festival which is celebrated every year was in remembrance of the sojourn of their progenitor Eri the son of Gad. The celebration is marked in the eighth month of Igbo lunar calendar and on Eke-day.
* The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, has joyfully celebrated the 90th posthumous birthday of the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. In a release signed by Dr. Tony Olisa Mbeki, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Barr. Ezeokenwa emphasized the profound impact of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu on the growth and success of APGA as a political platform. His unwavering commitment and dedication to the welfare of Ndi Igbo and Nigeria as a whole positioned APGA as a champion of interests, particularly for the marginalized and oppressed.
* Anambra State Government and Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) signed a one billion naira (N1b) agreement to fund Small and Medium sized Enterprises. In a release from the Commissioner for information Sir Paul Nwosu revealed that under the agreement terms, Anambra State Government will provide five hundred million naira (N500,000,000) and SMEDAN will match it with another five hundred million naira (N500,000,000).
* The Anambra State Government will soon domesticate the Correctional Service bill, the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof Sylvia Chika Ifemeje, has said.
Ifemeje disclosed this when the Anambra State Controller of Correctional Services, Usifo Joseph paid her a courtesy visit on Wednesday in her office at Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex , Awka. ANN recall that former President Muhammadu Buhari signed the Nigerian Correctional Services Bill into law in 2019. The Act repealed the Prison Act, Cap P29, Laws of the Federation, 2004 .
* The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Anambra State Chapter has conferred Anambra Youth Commander Award on the Prime Minister of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) Amb. Chief Dr. Johnny Metchie for his outstanding cum sterling contributions to human capital development. ANN report that the award which was presented to Johnny Metchie at the one-day youth summit held in Awka, the state capital at the weekend, was in recognition of his numerous empowerment programmes, scholarship schemes and other philanthropic gestures for youths which he sees as his immediate constituency.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has called on the Christian community in Anambra State to embrace true ecumenism as a way of fostering peace, unity and progress of the state. The Governor made the call at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka during annual prayer rally of the Anglican Church in Anambra State
* In support of the five key development agenda of the present administration in Anambra State, youths in the state gathered in an uncommon synergy, harmony and unity with renewed capacity to move the state forward. It was in line with this that they they held the inaugural Anambra Youth Conference, christened “A Day With Mr Governor” at Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center, Awka.
* Enugu Rangers are at the first position of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after defeating struggling Heatland FC of Owerri on Sunday at the Awka City Stadium. ANN reports that Rangers also known as the flying antelope got an early lead in the third minutes through a superb freekick from Kazim Ogunleye while leftback Kenneth Igboke re-bounced the panelty missed by Godwin Obaje at the fifty-third minutes to seal the win. Ogunleye, a dead ball specialist has played six games this season, scoring three goals with two assist.
* Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, has concluded a Montessori and Skills Acquisition Training Module Two, for all selected teachers from the six educational zones. The training which has its theme as “Enhancing Creativity and Skills Acquisition for Better Learning Outcome” lasted for nine days across the six educational zones of the state.
