Governor Chukwuma Soludo says Anambra Government will invest in constructing a home for the elderly in the state next year.
ANN reports that Soludo stated this when he spent a day with elderly, people living with disabilities and other members of different vulnerable groups in the state held at Emmaus House, Awka.
According to Governor Soludo, the state government already acquired five hectares of land for the old people’s home project, to help take care of the vulnerable who don’t have people to take care of them and muted the idea of naming of the buildings in the proposed complex after Prince Eze.
The Governor emphasized that the present administration is largely for the elderly, the poor and vulnerable people which is why his government’s policies are targeted at them in terms of provision of free basic education, free antenatal and delivery services,
While stressing that his government is pursuing a state with zero poverty, the Governor added that it was good to celebrate the best when they are still alive, assuring that such ceremonies will become regular in the state.
