Anambra Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mrs Blessing Iruma says the scheme has the capacity that will take adequate care of the number of corps members deployed to the State for their national service.
Mrs Iruma speaking during the opening ceremony of the orientation course for the 2023 Batch āCā Stream II corps members deployed to Anambra said that a total number of two thousand and five corps members, comprising one thousand and twenty-nine males and nine hundred and seventy-nine females have been registered and were already adjusting to camp life and activities.
She revealed that they have accommodation for four thousand corps members, a capacity that can take care of large number of corps members but they have a total of two thousand and five corps members, adding that the number may likely increase.
Anambra Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Patrick Aghamba congratulated the corps members for being among lucky ones to be posted to the State and urged them to tap maximally from the content of the orientation programme.
Aghamba in his remark assured the corps members that the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo lead administration will treat them as critical national assets by ensuring the provision of their welfare needs.
The commissioner assured them that adequate security shall be the topmost priority as security agencies are working in synergy and are constantly on ground to protect them in and around their lodges, places of primary assignments and host communities.
He noted that the experience of the camp would assist them tremendously in the remaining three cardinal programmes of the scheme after the orientation course.
He explained that Anambra is one of the states that lead in virtually every sphere of human endeavor, including commerce, education, health, infrastructural development, Sports and entertainment industry and also a state that its citizens travel far and wide and believe in the development of the state of their residence.
He maintained that they are lucky to be deployed to Anambra state where the friendly disposition of the people is assured, reminding them that as the next generational leaders, Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED remain one of the most important trainings on camp for them and listed some of the skills sets to include information and communication technology, Agro-allied, education, video and photo editing, cosmetology and construction.
He said that āOne Youth, Two Skillsā programme of the State Government under the Ministry of Youth Development is a sure way to empower them towards a meaningful and impactful livelihood.
Taking of oath of allegiance by the corps members, display and swearing in ceremony formed the highlights of the event.
