Most Rev Alexander Ibezim, the Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, has dedicated a new vicarage at Immanuel Anglican Church, Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka local government of Anambra state
Angel Network News reports that the vicarage was built as a memorial in honour of the Late Pa Samuel Okonkwo and Dame Mercy Nwuduekwe Anekwe.
The vicarage which was built by Mr Obinna Anekwe was dedicated to mark the fourth anniversary of the passing of Anekwe progenitors.
Dedicating the new vicarage, Ibezim thanked God for the memory of the couple and noted that the memorial is a testament of the mighty hand of God in their family.
Ibezim who is also the Archbishop, Province of the Niger appreciated the family for changing the face of the church with the vicarage and for their numerous contributions towards the development of the diocese and their community.
The prelate urged them to uphold their faith while encouraging other members of the community to emulate the family’s philanthropy in order to contribute their quota to the projects in the diocese and to the development of their community.
The Vicar of Immanuel Anglican Church, Enugwu Ukwu, Ven. Chris Ogbodo, in a sermon drawn from Proverbs 10:6, stated that the blessings of God are permanent on the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence, hence commended the Anekwe family for choosing the church of God to erect a memorial in honour of their parents.
In a goodwill message to the family, the member representing Njikoka One Constituency at the Anambra State House Of Assembly, Hon. Chidi Ibemeka commended Mr. Obinna Anekwe for choosing to contribute to the growth of evangelism in the church while describing him as a young man who God has used to bless the people of Enugwu-Ukwu through his many works of philanthropy.
In an appreciation, Mr. Anekwe assured that the family will continue to support the work of God in the diocese.
