* Chief Johnpaul Ezenwaka has been elected the new President General of Aguluezechukwu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. Chief Ezenwaka polled a total of 513 votes. The election conducted by Mr. Ethelberth Obi chosen by the community as the returning officer for the election also saw the election of Mr. Uche Chiadi as the First Vice President after polling 640 votes and Mr. Ejike Okoye emerged Second Vice President with 540 votes.
* Most Rev Alexander Ibezim, the Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, has dedicated a new vicarage at Immanuel Anglican Church, Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka local government of Anambra state. Angel Network News reports that the vicarage was built as a memorial in honour of the Late Pa Samuel Okonkwo and Dame Mercy Nwuduekwe Anekwe. The vicarage which was built by Mr Obinna Anekwe was dedicated to mark the fourth anniversary of the passing of Anekwe progenitors.
* Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo says his administration is aiming to build atleast one health center in each of the wards in Anambra State. Soludo stated this shortly after commissioning the Community Health Center built by Chief Oliver Nwagbara in Okpuno, Uruagu, Nnewi. The Governor assured that his administration will continue to vigorously develop the state, using its five pillars and asked the people of Nnewi to rally round him to develop a master plan for the city.
* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has assured ndi Anambra that the state legislature would continue to enact laws and resolutions aimed at uplifting the living standard of the citizenry as well as the total development of the state. Angel Network News reports that in his new year message to ndi Anambra on behalf of the 8th assembly, Udeze described the new year 2024 as a year of peace and progress for the state and the citizenry.
* Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State has described the year 2024 as a year of changing the gears of development in the state and the country at large. In his New Year’s message at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, the Governor reflected on the challenges faced by the state and nation in 2023 and expressed optimism for the future. The Governor highlighted the resilience of ndị Anambra, acknowledging the sacrifices made by everyone and prayed for God’s grace He also noted the state’s efforts in implementing measures to address challenges in the past year. He described 2024 as critical and pivotal in accelerating change by government at all levels.
* An article authored by one Mathew Ugwuadi had alleged that certain political parties, and the current Vice Chancellor (VC) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, had prefered candidates in the race for the next VC of the institution. But in a statement by Dr Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Special Adviser on Public Relations and Special Duties to the Vice Chancellor of the University, he described the story as “fabricated falsehood.”
Ojukwu said the procedure for who would emerge the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka is contained in a template clearly outlined and issued by the Federal Ministry of Education.
* Anambra Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh says the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo is
commitment to make education in the state sustainable. Chuma-Udeh stated this during her visit to Community Secondary School Enugu-Abor Ufuma, Orumba North council area for on-the-spot assessment of the school.
* Mr. Henry Chigozie Anadi has emerged as the new President General of Ebenator Community in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State. This was declared on shortly after the keenly-contested town union election of the Ebenator Development Union (E.D.U), which held at the Central School Field, Ebenator, with massive turnout.
Angel Network Angel Network News reports that the peaceful, free and fair, credible election, which was held amidst tight security, was supervised by delegation from the State’s Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, led by the President General of Eziagu Community, Mr. Ernest Obi.
* The 1992 set of Comprehensive Science and Technical College Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government Area has handed over a gatehouse it started and completed to the management of the school. The project worth fifteen million naira was started by the Chief of Protocol to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr Chinedu Nwoye who is the pioneer and immediate past Chairman of the association. Speaking after handing over the gate house Mr Nwoye said their set saw the poor condition of the school gate and decided to give it a face lift and also to provide security in the school.
