Anambra State government has the inaugurated students’ wing of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade known as OCHA-NANS.
Angel Network News reports that the inauguration ceremony which took place at Nnamdi Azikiwe University recently tagged “Towards Clean And Healthy Campus” is targeted at ensuring that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision and mission for a better Anambra is adopted and implemented in all aspects of human endeavour.
Addressing the students, Comrade Celestine Anere expressed delight with the enthusiasm of the students in aligning with the state government’s policies and programmes and revealed that the campaign for a cleaner and greener state cannot be carried out by only the government alone.
Anere noted that plans are in top gear to inaugurate the Brigade in higher institutions and town unions, pointing out that the command is committed to replicate Governor Soludo’s vision in all parts of the state.
The OCHA Brigade assured of regular training, joint collaboration and support so that the mandate of the state government is carried out especially in Ifite Awka and the campus which will ensure healthy environment, ease of doing business and conducive atmosphere for learning.
He asked the students’ arm of the agency to see the opportunity as a call to service and not an avenue to make money, warning that any of them caught exploiting others with the name of the agency will face the full wrath of the law.
The Public Relations Officer of OCHA Brigade, Comrade Anthony Agbafune during the event read out the code of conduct of the establishment to the newly inaugurated members of OCHA-NANS before their official decoration and inauguration proper.
Contributing, the Dean Of Student Affairs, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Prof. Chinonso Achebe charged the newly inaugurated OCHA-NANS of the institution to hit the ground running, dedicated to professionalism and admonished them to assist the state to solve some of the man-made issues facing the environment and society and not to contribute or inflict hardship and suffering on other students and residents around the university community.
Responding, the Secretary General, National Association of Nigeria Students, NANS Zone F, Comrade Ifeyinwa Felix and the SUG President of Unizik, Comrade Izuchukwu Ejikeme thanked the state government for the confidence reposed in them to set up the agency and revealed that the students through the students union are willing to partner the state to achieve its vision.
They expressed their unalloyed support to Givernor Soludo’s policies and programmes and assured that the union will see to the success of the mandate which will be more beneficial to the students.
They also extolled Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his people oriented leadership style and described him as a youth friendly Governor who is committed to alleviating the plights of the governed.
