The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze says the love people have for God and their fellow human beings is the greatest Christian virtue.
Angel Network News reports that In his Goodwill Message to ndi Anambra on this year’s Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s Day, Rt. Hon. Udeze maintained that it is not a coincidence that both events are being observed same day, but a design by God to prove His love for mankind as well as people’s love for one another.
The Speaker noted that the Lent which usually starts with the Ash Wednesday is a period of sober reflection, fasting and praying against tribulations, adding that as Jesus Christ triumphed over temptations and death, Christians will surely overcome their problems and obtain salvation of God.
He enjoined ndi Anambra to show more love to Anambra State by praying for Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration and supporting the Governor’s genuine efforts towards the peace, unity and progress of the State.
Rt. Hon. Udeze who described Valentine’s Day Celebration as a continuous exercise, encouraged people to cultivate the habit of showing love to one another at all times, emphasizing that love is capable of driving away hatred, envy, killing, hardship and bad governance among other challenges.
The Speaker called on religious leaders to organize programmes that will teach the real essence of Lent this period with the firm belief that God’s salvation is stronger than trials and temptations.
