Anambra Assembly Renews Tenure Of Transition Committee Chairmen, Councillor

The Anambra State House of Assembly on Thursday confirmed and extended the tenure of Transition Committee (TC) Chairmen of the 21 local government areas and their councillors for another three months.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somto Udeze at plenary read out the letter from Governor Chukwuma Soludo requesting for the consideration and confirmation of their tenue.

Majority Leader Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme the member representing Ekwusigo constituency, moved a motion for their consideration and
confirmation and was seconded by Honourable Golden Iloh (Ihiala two)

Rt. Hon. Udeze while congratulating the TC Chairman, urged them to double their efforts towards making sure that the vision and mission of Governor Soludo is achieved.

” I urge you all to remain focus. It is very essential for you all to face your duties and avoid areas of conflict.

” We all are playing towards one goal post and as such, you as TC Chairmen and Councillors should localize all the agendas of Governor Soludo down to the grassroots.

” Those at the villages should feel the agendas of Mr. Governor. Partner with stakeholders and let development start from various communities. It is the duties of your office to do so.

” The state government cannot do everything and their is need for community, stakeholders participation.

” I encourage you all to work hard in the next three months and make a meaningful impact”. The Speaker stated

In a vote of thanks, the TC Chairman of Ayamelum Hon. Livinus .O. assured that they will do everything within their powers to attract devidends of democracy down to the grassroots., promising that they will leave up to expectations of the Governor and that of the 8th assembly.

Speaking in an interview with house of assembly correspondents after the confirmation, The TC Chairman of Orumber South, Prince Neville Uchendu said the health sector at his local government area have improve.

On his area of priority in the next three month of his tenue, Uchendu said he will try to keep Orumber South save from drug abuse and holiganism and that security is getting back to normal.

The Mayor added by saying that he will also focus on visiting schools, youths, widows and the less privileged through putting smiles on their faces with empowerment, skill acquastion programs and constant engagement.

The house adjourned to Tuesday February 20, 2024.
