Anambra State Government in its determination to maintain and sustain a clean and healthy environment has again urged citizen to desilt gutters, drainages in their environment.
In a special announcement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Anambra State, Sir Paul Nwosu, stated that government is sad to note that in spite of all the notification and media announcements, those concerned have not heeded these warnings to desilt gutters and drainages in their environment.
The release stated that Anambra State Government has discovered incessant disposal of waste into gutters and drainages instead of the designated locations.
This is in spite of the fact that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has shown good example by repeatedly going out to desilt gutters and drainages in Ochanja market and its surroundings.
Henceforth, Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade will be on active patrol to ensure compliance with this directives. Anybody or group caught flouting this directive shall be penalised according to the law’ Nwosu stated
Angel Network News (ANN) recalls that in a circular by Ministry of Environment dated 20th February, 2024, Markets, Estates, Parks, Layouts, Neighborhoods, Streets, Schools, Churches, Abattoirs, Shopping Complexes and Plazas and all public spaces were directed to carry out these exercises from 23rd February to Friday 15th March, 2024.
