* Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye has celebrate with founder ‘B-Lord Group of Company’, Mr Linus Williams Ifejika, as he mark his birthday. Okoye in his goodwill message stated that Mr Linus is an enterprising young man who woke up early to the realities of our techno centric age and distinguished himself with his God given abilities. The lawmaker wished and prayed for good health and more productive years of service to humanity.

* Nigerian women have been urged not to shy away from challenges but to brace up to them. The President/Founder of All for Women Initiative Nigeria (A-WIN), Mrs Stella Igboka, made this call during the launch of the Non-Governmental Organization at Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre. According to her, All for Women Initiative Nigeria was founded and conceptualized based on the team’s resolve to make indelible marks and positive difference in the lives of women, the girl-child and the vulnerable in Society in simple, but result-oriented ways.

* The Anambra state Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed four clandestine laboratories that produce the deadly Methamphetamine drugs in the area .

According to the Public Relations Officer of the agency Mr Christopher Adebo who spoke at the Anti Drug Abuse campaign rally organized by the Anambra North Senatorial District chapter of the Soludo Ambassadors, He noted that the agency has a five year work on plan prevention program to stop the use and supply of drugs in the state urging the Town Union leaders and Traditional Rulers to be part of the fight against drug abuse.

* The Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) Maku Olatunde, has called for an effective partnership and support of the public to security agencies in the fight against crimes and criminality. Maku stated this while delivering a goodwill message at the South East Regional Consultative Forum organized by a Non Governmental Organization, Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development, SCDDD in Awka. The Commandant who was represented by Superintendent of Corps; Edwin Okadigbo, the NSCDC  Public Relations Officer in the state, declared that as Nigeria continues to battle organized crimes and other forms of criminality, the NSCDC calls for more inclusive engagement of members of the public in providing actionable intelligence to nip it at the bud.

* Two teenagers, Chinedu Ogboo and Chima Ossai have continued to languish in the detention facility of State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Anambra Police Command since Feb. 16 without trial. Ogboo and Ossai are both workers at Dexin Nigeria Limited, a plastic company which manufactures single use food packs on Atani Road, Odoekpe area of Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra. They were arrested and handed over to the Police on the allegation that they were responsible for the fire incident in a section of the company.

* The member representing Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Hon. Gwacham Maureen celebrates with Catholic bishop of Aguleri diocese, Most Rev. Dr Denis C. Isizoh and the entire Aguleri diocese community as the bishop marks one year in office. Hon. Gwacham

in her goodwill message prayed God to continue to strengthen the bishop, bestow him with more wisdom and knowledge in discharging his duties as the chief shepherd of the diocese.

* Plateau State runner, Nyango Gyang has emerged winner of the maiden edition of Anambra State Marathon, defeating other marathoners with the record time of 2:26 mins to clinch the N1million prize money.

The 40km marathon, which was organised by Thanos Charity Foundation, in partnership with federal Ministry of Sports and the state government, began at the Ogbunike Toll gate, through Enugu -Onitsha expressway, and ended at Emmaus House, in Awka. Gyang dominated the race as two others, Ismael Sadjoh and Selengwe Constant, came second and third, with cash prizes of #500,000 and #300,000 respectively.

Speaking after the exercise, Gyang expressed his delight, promised to do better in the next edition.

* The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has called on lawyers to jettison logic and embrace truth in the delivery and defence of judicial matters.

The prelate made this call at the blessing and inauguration of the refurbished Equity Law Firm Chambers in Awka, Anambra State. While he commended the priest in charge of the Law Firm, Rev. Fr. Dr. Edwin Obiorah, SAN, for having refurbished the law firm to a more befitting state, Bishop Ezeokafor charged legal luminaries to blend justice with truth. Bishop Ezeokafor also expressed the hope that the legal firm would serve the people with equity and fairness.

* The member representing Ihiala Federal Constituency, Dr. Paschal Agbodike, has said that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has shown capacity in delivery of quality infrastructure and other dividends of democracy to Ndi Anambra and residents of the state, and has done more than expected within two years at the helm of Anambra affairs. He described the Governor and his team as fulfilment of promise God made to Ndi Anambra.

* Critical stakeholders in the Agriculture sector in Anambra State have shared ideas on how to end constant emergence of food crisis in the country. The stakeholders who include the Special Assistant to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, on Agriculture, Patricia Ibekwe; Emeka Okoli of Ossy Chris Farms Ltd; and the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof Cordelia Ebenebe, were speaking in a media programme in Awka,  recently. Prof Ebenebe identified a number of factors such as international policies, lack of funds, laziness among youths, farmers-herders clashes, among others, as causes of food crisis in the country.
