* The Archbishop, Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, has charged persons of Igbo extraction to forgive themselves over the excruciating Nigeria-Biafra civil war which occured over 50 years ago. Ibezim gave the charge at Saint Peters Anglican Church, Amawbia, Anambra South Local Government Area, during the 2024 Good Friday Retreat of Awka Diocesan Council of Knights.

* Traders at the Shoe Manufacturers and General Goods Dealers Association, Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State has inaugurated the new caretaker committee instituted by the Anambra State government to pilot the affairs of the market. The caretaker committee has Mr. Innocent Chukwuemeka as Chairman, Mr. Cletus Eze as Vice Chairman, Mr. Chizoba Nwoha as Secretary, and Mr. Ejiofo Ugwu as Financial Secretary. Others are Mr. Innocent Jideoffo – Treasurer, Mr. Sunday Okereke- P R O, Mr. Chidi Nnagbuo, Provost, while Mr. Ifeanyi Igwilo and Mr. Joseph Nkwuta are members.

* Nimo Town Development Union (NTDU), a community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra on Saturday held its first National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the present administration. Nimo President General (PG) Engr. Dan Zeelunjo Anakpe in his opening remark thanked everyone present for their support so far towards his administration. The PG who was elected on January 2024 stated that his victory is for ndi Nimo and that since he took over office, his team has been working so hard to deliver on their promises.

* Anambra State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has urged Christians to imbibe the lessons of sacrifice, love and peace that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ signify. In his Easter Message on behalf of the State Legislature, Rt. Hon. Udeze noted that Easter offers Nigerians the opportunity to reflect on their lives, adding that the observation of the forty days of Lent reinvigorates the spiritual growth of Christians and God’s amazing grace for the salvation of mankind. The Speaker maintained that Easter gives Christians the divine power to appreciate the truth that Christ’s dying moments on the cross gave us the greatest illustration of forgiveness,faith and belief necessary for our Christian living.

* Members of Awka North Local Government Area held a solidarity walk to appreciate Governor Soludo for the Amansea to Awba-Ofemili road project he constructed for them. They held the walk along the road to appreciate the present administration for remembering the road project which aims to improve the infrastructure and open up Awka North for the outside world to come and invest. The solidarity walk was organized as a show of support from the community for the project, indicating the importance of the project to the residents. During the walk, the participants carried placards with messages of appreciation and support for the governor’s efforts towards improving the infrastructure in the area.

* Three suspects have been arrested and paraded in Anambra state by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC), for oil theft. They were conveying 1,625 litres of adulterated diesel also known as Automotive Gas Oil in Odekpe in Ogbaru local government of the state. The suspects, Okechukwu Okeke (28) from Ojoto, Idemili South LGA, Emeka Chukwuma (34) from Akili – Ozizor, Ogbaru LGA, both in Anambra State and Ifunanya Ike (29) of Mbano LGA of Imo State were arrested along Atani road. Parading the suspects at the State Command, State Commandant, Olatunde Maku said the suspects were nabbed by Joint Operating Team of Anti- Vandalism Squad of the Command headed by ACC Chinenye Chinweze and the Nigerian Navy.

* Anambra State House of Assembly, Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon. Chukwuma Okoye has disbursed cash worth two million, four hundred thousand naira to 20 of his constituents to continuation of his efforts to cushion the effects of the economic hardship bedeviling the country.

Addressing the gathering at his compound in Amawbia, Okoye who also represents Awka South II Constituency, explained that the gesture was designed to complement the efforts of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in delivering democracy dividends to the people despite political affiliations. The Anambra Deputy Speaker revealed that a monitoring team will continue to keep a close watch on the beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the cash awards.

* Keke riders in Anambra State are of the opinion that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has done well, two years after his administration came into existence. The tricycle operators who took their messages through some roads in Awka, the state capital, carried placards with various inscriptions such as “no vacancy in Agu Awka in 2025,” “our tax is working for us,” do not play dirty politics with our lives, “Uzo Soludo bu Igbaa!!!”. Other inscriptions read; “Our IGR is working!!! Our tax is working!!!”, “Politicians will not use roads to campaign again in 2025”, thank you, Soludo!, Odenigbo Aguata, “You have no opposition, Chefueee Ndi ilo”, Nwa-Mgbafor is the best Governor Anambra has had since creation, among others.
