Popular Nigerian socialite Pascal Okechukwu, known as Cubana Chief Priest, has been granted N10 million bail with two sureties in like sum after pleading not guilty to charges of alleged Naira abuse at a Federal High Court in Lagos State.
This is coming less than a week after popular celebrity cross-dresser Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison for the same offense of Naira abuse at an event earlier this month.
Cubana Chief Priest is said to have committed the offense while dancing during an event at Eko Hotel on February 13, 2024. However, old videos have resurfaced showing Nigerian politicians like Umaru Bago, Governor of Niger State, Ibrahim Abuna, a lawmaker from Borno State, and Hannatu Musawa abusing the Naira, yet they have not been charged.
According to Nigeria’s Clean Note Policy, writing, mutilating, stapling, tearing, or making a hole of any kind, spraying, soiling, or matching of the Naira constitutes an offense. Offenders are liable to a fine of fifty thousand Naira or six months’ imprisonment, or both.
