* Ahead of the 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, political stakeholders under the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), in Anoacha Local Government Area of the State, has organised a one-day grassroots mobilization summit tagged; Anoacha APGA Stakeholders Summit 2024″ for Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election bid.

* A bill for a law to establish the Anambra State Electricity market and regulatory commission in areas of genaration, transmission, system operation, distribution and supply, and to provide for connected purposes has passed through first reading at the Anambra State House of Assembly.

* The Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Hon Anthony Ifeanya, says Anambra State government led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo is committed in improving the infrastructural development on oil producing communities through building of schools, roads, hospitals and other life improvement infrastructure. Ifeanya, gave the assurance in Awka, during a one-day dialogue on building trust and transparency, strengthening relationships among stakeholders, government and host communities in the state. Speaking in the event, organized by an NGO, Ifeanya, who called for urgent need for confidence building between SEEPCO, the state government and host communities, warned that the achievement of model host communities will be a mirage if there is no peace.

* A bill for a law to ensure the safety and protection of markets in Anambra state  has been passed into law by the Anambra State House of Assembly on Tuesday. 

After consideration and amendment of the report from a joint committee on Trade, Commerce and Industry, and committee on Environment, the Majority Leader Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme moved a motion for the third reading and was seconded by the Deputy Minority Leader Hon. Nobel Igwe. The purpose of the law is to ensure the safety of people and property. Ensure quick response and protection in case of an inferno. Ensure security footage in case of any breaches and also re-position Anambra markets to be technologically driven.

* 267 faithful of Marist Comprehensive College, Nteje in Oyi LGA, Anambra State have received the sacrament of Confirmation from the Catholic Bishop of Aguleri Diocese, the Most Rev. Denis Isizoh during a Pontifical High Mass at the college chapel. The faithful who received the sacrament of confirmation comprised of 142 male and 125 female students. Isizoh in his homily, charged the faithful to always hold on to the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit by rejecting vices that are capable of maring their future. He listed unity and one love as qualities of the Trinity in one God, asking them to be generous and show that perfect love that exists between the Trinity to their fellow humans.

* Anambra Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Dr Felix Odimegwu has confirmed that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has provided the sum of five hundred million Naira only (N500m) being counterpart funding for NEWMAP-EIB project. He made this known when the Anambra State delegation joined the 23 NEWMAP-EIB participating states in Nigeria, Federal Ministry of Environment, European Investment Bank  (EIB), United Nations Office for Project Services  (UN-UNOPS) and held at Barcelona International Hotel, Abuja, Nigeria. Odimegwu opined that the readiness of the State in terms of the availability of the counterpart fund and the eagerness to commence the environmental restoration project was as a result of the agenda of Soludo to help curb the erosion menace that has eaten up to 40% of the land mass in our dear state, Anambra.

* The Healthy Living Exhibition Garden, a new agro project set up by the wife of the governor of Anambra State and founder of the non-governmental crusade, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, has entered into seed sowing stage. Recall that the garden, which was set up a few days ago, had only undergone preliminary planting procedures, including soil testing and seed trays set up.

With the ridges already carved out, the governor’s wife sowed some cucumber seeds and also checked out the nurseries that are coming up in the seed trays. 

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has celebrated Anambra’s Children, describing them as the glorious future of the state. The theme for this year’s event is “Enhancing Total Wellbeing Of The Nigerian Child, Through Quality Education And Skills Development”. In his address at the At 2024 Children’s Day at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, Soludo appreciated millions of children of Anambra state, assuring to continue to intentionally prioritizing the future by investing in education.

* A bill for a law to establish the Anambra State Independent Electoral commission and for connected purposes Sponsored by the Majority Leader Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme has passed through Second Reading on Tuesday at plenary.

* Omor Community in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State was thrown into turmoil , as a youth leader election was conducted despite the sitting youth leader’s tenure not having elapsed. The election has raised questions about the motives behind the move. Sir Okoye Frederick Chukwukeluwa was elected as the youth leader on October 13, 2022, during the tenure of High Chief Johnson Ifejika as President General of Omor town union. However, after the election of a new President General, High Chief Cyril Obikezie Anyanwumelu, on September 29, 2023, a move to remove the existing youth leader began. The election has sparked controversy and raised questions about the government’s role in the process.
