* All is now set for the first session of the sixth synod of the Anglican Diocese of Amichi. The Synod, which is the highest governing body of a diocese, is slated to hold from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th June 2024, and will be hosted by Immanuel Anglican Church, Ekwulumili, Nnewi South Local Government Area.
Delegates at the synod will be drawn from all the Archdeaconries and Churches that make up the Amichi Anglican Diocese.
* The 2024 Admin Foundation Football Tournament which was sponsored by the founder of Admin Foundation, Hon. Chief Promise Egbeji has been concluded with Fegge ward 1 football team emerging winner after beating their Fegge ward 3 football team by one to zero. Speaking immediately after crowning the champions, Hon. Promise Egbeji commended participating teams for the show of sportsmanship throughout the tournament and explained that, the Admin Foundation is charity based, to help the people and less privileged. Also speaking was Board member of Anambra State Football Association, Mr. Larry Akana said, the tournament was impressive and those talented players noticed shall be invited to the state.
* The Anambra State Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engineer Julius Chukwuemeka has expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his investments in education, healthcare and pipe borne water targeted at the betterment of Anambra children.
Chukwuemeka stated this while speaking to newsmen recently in Awka. The Commissioner appreciated Soludo for his efforts towards ensuring that Anambra children have access to free and qualitative education. According to Chukwuemeka, with over eight thousand teachers already employed and the free basic education, the gap between the children of the poor and the rich has been bridged academically.
* Anambra State government has called on citizens to support the efforts of Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration in creating a conducive environment for enhanced business transactions. The Managing Director of Anambra Signage and Advertisement Agency, ANSAA, Mr Tony Ujubonwu while speaking in Awka, described Soludo as a Governor with the interest of the people at heart. He charged the citizenry to always be alive to their responsibilities. According to the ANSAA boss, the essence of establishing the Anambra Signage and Advertisement Agency is part of the efforts of the state government to help business executives across the state showcase and market their products for robust businesses.
* The immediate past Councilor that represented Amawbia Ward One, Mr. Chidiume Onuora, decided to construct and hand over culverts on two strategic places at Umueze village, Amawbia, Awka South Council Area. Mr. Onuora, who spent one year and eight months as a Councilor, noted that he copied from some people he described as his mentors, including the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Chukwuma Okoye, and past Principal Secretary to former Governor Willie Obiano, Sir Willie Nwokoye, whom he said have done a lot for their ward in terms of construction of culverts and roads.
* The convener of Women Initiative for Greater Anambra WIGA, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has lauded Anambra State First Lady, Mrs Nonye Soludo for her effort towards the protection of women and children especially female. Hon. Obi lauded Mrs. Soludo when she flagged off HPV Vaccination for Young Girls at Aguleri and urges parents and Ndi Anambra to ensure that their female children are vaccinated with the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine for the protection of young girls from harmful HPV infection that can lead to various types of cancers, including cervical cancer. She commended Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo’s dedication towards improving public health sector and providing access to quality healthcare services.
* Anaocha All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Women Leader Hon. Mrs. Ijeoma Sunny-Egbuna in marking her one year in office expressed gratitude to various individuals who have supported her throughout her tenure. The woman leader acknowledged the kindness and support she received from these individuals, which enabled her to achieve remarkable success in her first year. She highlighted the pragmatic strategies she initiated to promote APGA in Anaocha Local Government Area, with a focus on empowering female members.
* The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim has congratulated the wife of business mogul and Chairman of Chrome Group Nigeria Limited, Mrs Adaora Offor on the honorary Doctorate, Honoris Causa, in Social Advocacy conferred on her by the university. Dr. Ibezim urged Sir Emeka Offor and his wife, Mrs Adaora Offor to continue with the humanitarian work that stood her out for the award. He appreciated the university for acknowledging their contributions to the educational development in the state.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has appointed Prof. Chidi Odinkalu as the Pro-Chancellor and chairman of Governing Council of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam, Anambra State. Odinkalu, former chairman of Nigerian Human Rights Commission is a scholar of high repute. Other members of the new Council include: Chief (Mrs) Ifeoma Ekwueme, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu. Others are: Chief Christopher Ndubuisi and HRH Oranu Chris Chidume” A release by the Press Secretary to Governor Soludo, Mr Christian Aburime listed other members of the council to include wife of eternal Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Amb Bianca Ojukwu.
The release by Aburime said: “The new Council, assembled with a focus on excellence, integrity and strategic leadership, will provide guidance and oversight for the continued growth and development of the state-owned university.
* Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has reassured that the state government will continue to do its best to support registered children’s homes and orphanages in Anambra State. Mrs Soludo stated this when she received members of the Association of Registered Community Children’s Homes (ARCCH), Anambra State, at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia. Addressing members of the association, the governor’s wife said that the state government takes special interest in all the registered homes and will continue to support their works of charity.
