The Executive Governor of Anambra Sate, His Excellency Governor Willie Maduabuchukwu Obiano today 14th October, 2021 presented his budget for 2022 physical year in the floor of Anambra State House of Assembly.
Angel Network News reports that His Excellency Governor Willie Maduabuchukwu Obiano presented the budget today, which was to the tune of N141, 969, 361, 784, the governor also recounted his legacy projects including, Anambra State Cargo Airport Umueri, International Conference/Convention Centre Awka and Awka City Stadium.
Commenting on the cargo airport, His Excellency disclosed that the airport which was likely to become operational by the 21st of October, was the best in the country at the moment. The only airport that came close to it in terms of quality and operational capacity was Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja.
Also, Governor Obiano told the Hon. Members that the International Convention Centre started by him was already completed.
According to him, the Centre which has the capacity of containing twelve thousand person at the same time was the first of its kind in the whole of the Southeast. He as well disclosed that the Awka City Stadium was already nearing completion. He was particularly happy that in executing these projects, his administration made use of internally generated revenue and didn’t borrow a dim from outside the state.
Thanking the Hon. Members for the synergy that has existed between them and his administration and for their cooperation in ensuring that the approval of last year’s budget was expedited, he was hopeful that this year’s budget would receive the same urgent but careful attention that it deserve.
He further mentioned that his present appearance would be his last appearance in the floor of the House as the Governor of Anambra State and the 2022 budget would be the last budget he would present to the House. He bid the House farewell and encouraged them to work always for the good and interest of Ndi Anambra.
In His vote of thanks, Hon. Obinna Emenaka, representing Anambra East Constituency and the Chairman of the Budget Assessment and House Committee on Finance and Appropriation the Governor and other Members of the Anambra State Executive Council for the efforts they have made in the execution of this year’s budget. He noted that, budget was a very serious business because without budget there can be no governance.
He particularly praised the governor on the governor’s legacy projects maintaining that with that the governor has written his name in marbles and that posterity shall never forget.
