* The member representing Aguata Two constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Tony Muobike has commissioned and officially handed over a toilet facility at Community Secondary School, Agulu-Ezechukwu. The lawmaker who is the Chairman House Committee on Health explained that it was in fulfilment of his campaign promises to solve the needs of his constituents and thanked God for making the day a reality,
Muobike described lack of convenience facility in a school environment as a health disaster to both the students and community speaking from the perspective of a health professional that he is .
* Anambra State Government through ASBA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Corporate Vince International Logistics limited to manage operations at the Anambra digital shoe hub, Nkwelle. According to the MD/CEO Anambra State Small Business Agency (ASBA), Mr Clement Chukwuka,during an interactive session with the journalist, described the shoe hub as a One stop shop facility. He noted that the well equipped shoe factory has the capacity to produce over 500,000 shoes monthly for export, adding that the equipments at the hub are same as those used to manufacture quality shoes made in Italy and other developed countries. The MD/CEO applauded the state government’s efforts in engendering industrialization in Anambra State,while recognizing these efforts as crucial for job creation and sustainable economic growth.
* The special INNOSON vehicles ordered by the Abia State government for members of the state House of Assembly are ready for delivery, an official of the company, Cornel Osuigwe has said.
Osuigwe’s assurance came on the heels of an allegation by the lawmakers that the company had failed to supply the ordered vehicles. Osigwe, who is the head of Corporate Communication of INNOSON said the vehicles ordered by Governor Alex Otti for the lawmakers were a special make that required the production of a new frame.
* Anambra State government and her development partners have held a two-day workshop to design a strategic work plan for an effective, efficient and robust creative industry in the state. The event, tagged “Anambra State Creative Economy Consultative Value Chain Mapping”, was held in Awka. Declaring the conference open, the Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment, Comrade Don Onyenji stated that the conference will help the state government assist all sectors strategically so as to fully tap each of their potentials.
* The members of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra have commended and passed a vote of confidence on the party’s Chairman in the local government area, Hon. Azubuike Osuchukwu. The party faithfuls gave the commendation on Wednesday during the Executive Council Meeting of the party in the local government, following a motion for vote of confidence moved by Mr. Chima Agwucha, who is the Chairman of Utuh Ward and Chairman of the Ward Chairmen in the local government, and seconded by Chief Elochukwu Udoye, who is a former Councillor of the Amichi ward 3 and also the Public Relations Officer of the Local Government Working Committee.
* The member representing Aguata one constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly Hon. Anayo Okpalaeke has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s robust policies and his strong political will and commitment to achieving excellence in all spheres of governance.
While speaking with newsmen at the Legislative building complex in Awka. Hon. Okpalaeke pointed out that there have been positive changes in his style of leadership noting that in the management and operations of those agencies like ASWAMA, ATMA, OCHA Brigade and ACTDA, one witnessed a series of operational changes resulting in quality service delivery in every sector.
* Stakeholders at a one-day strategic dialogue session have resolved to work assiduously to ensure that the second phase of the Strengthening Public Accountability for Result and Knowledge (SPARK 2) project is successfully implemented in Anambra State. The stakeholders are leaders and members of the Community Development Network (COMEN), Ward Development Committees, (WDCs), the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) Anambra chapter, Small-scale Women Farmers Organization in Nigeria (SWOFON) and the Health Network of Partners, were drawn from the six SPARK 2 benefitting LGAs and other relevant agency groups in the area. Giving the overview of the project which is supported by the International Budget Partnership, (IBP), the SPARK Program Manager, JDPC, Nnewi, Onyekachi Ololo, noted that the number of benefiting local government areas has increased from three in the first phase, which focused on water, sanitation and hygiene provision at PHCs, to six LGAs, with twenty-four benefitting communities, while the focus has shifted to maternal and child health care especially as maternal and child health programs have the ability to also address issues around water and sanitation in the Primary Health facilities if effectively implemented.

* Zikora Soludo, the last born of Anambra State Governor Professor Chukwuma, has broken a thirty-year-old record in discus for her school after emerging overall winner in the school’s annual sports day event. The 12-year-old old who represented her class in the competition broke the record, which was set as far back as 1994, to set a new record in the history of the competition in her school.
Ms. Zikora Soludo, who is in Class Seven, an equivalent of Nigeria’s Junior Secondary School One, also came first in shotput, defeating runner-up with a wide margin. Announcing the feat on her verified social media handles, the Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, congratulated the Anambra first family’s last child and described the milestone as a thing of great pride.
* The leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Anambra State Chapter, have confirmed that the issues arising from a recent two-day industrial action involving the member representing Aguata Constituency Two, Chief Tony Muobike and the NLC have been amicably resolved. The resolution was disclosed by the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, and the State NLC Chairman, Comrade Humphrey Nwafor, following a meeting at the legislative complex in Awka on Friday June 21, 2024
