Anambra Police Command Parades Suspects Arrested For Various Crimes.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam says over two hundred suspects have been arrested in the last sixty days for various crimes.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
CP Itam while briefing the press at the Commands Headquarters, Amawabia on Friday July 12, warned all those who have been mislaid through thinking that crime is the only option, they should have a rethink and redress their steps.
“This is exactly sixty days after i arrived in Anambra State and this command will continue to do its best in fighting crime. Despite the challenges, we have done well.
“I want to thank the security conscious Governor of Anambra State Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for his support. We are working together, trying to re-position law enforcement in order to boost the security in the state.
“In our efforts together with other security agencies to reduce crime and criminality in Anambra State, their have been positive results.
“Over two hundred suspects have been arrested in the last sixty days for various crimes with many of them persecuted while others are still under investigation.
“Four kidnapped victims have been rescued with various aminations such as Ak’s, Pump actions, locally made pistols amongst others recovered.
“Twenty seven vehicles have been recovered with different brands of motorcycles and other items.
” We have build confidence back to our men through various trainings including the use of fire arms and target practice. We are fixing our vehicles so that we will serve ndi Anambra better.
“Our desire is that under ten minutes, anywhere in Anambra State will should have our response team on-ground. We are working to make that a reality.
” We are synergizing and consulting and have held a summit with law enforcement agencies with other informal meetings including a meeting with traditional rulers from Anambra central district.
” In our drive to ensure that criminality is reduced to the bearest minimum, we have made available our response unit working through the Public Relations Officer alongside other units that act as watchdogs.
“We have enjoyed excellent partnership from the state government and also the judiciary. I have meet with the judiciary committee on law enforcement.
” I commend the anti-cultism law and am urging ndi-Anambra to make out time and study the law.
“There will be zero tolerance for criminality and terrorism in Anambra State. We will do everything within our power to ensure that peace is restored to every corner of the state.
“In the past few weeks, their have been videos on social media intending to blackmail and tarnish the image of Anambra Police Command.
“We dont investigate on social media and cannot account for any incident that is not reported to any Police station. We advise that whoever has anything that requires police attention, our lines are available.
“For those who have been mislaid through thinking that crime is the only option, they should have a rethink and redress their steps. They should look for things that are profitable to do, and leave crime alone
because it wont be business as usual.
“There is nothing like unknown gunmen in Anambra State. We must all take responsibility to ensure that our families who are engaged in crime and criminality, account for their actions.
“We will continue to do our part by not allowing those terrorising innocent citizens to think that they will have a free day’. The Commissioner of Police said.
