* Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) invites applications from interested eligible citizens of Anambra State for consideration and recruitment as Ad-hoc Staff to serve in various capacities in the forthcoming Local Government Council Election. In a release signed by Genevieve Osakwe, Esq, Chairman ANSIEC, the categories and qualifications required are Local Government Returning Officers, Ward Collation Officers, Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Poll Clerks and Poll Orderlies

* On the heels of the ongoing raging battle between Gov. Soludo-led APGA Leadership and Chief Edozie Njoku, the recently Supreme Court declared the authentic National Chairman of the Party, Bar Thompson Chikezie an Onitsha-based lawyer and right activist who was also a one-time Chairman of the People Democratic Party (P.D.P) Anambra East LGA has noted that there is nothing bad for Gov. Soludo and all contending APGA Leadership factions in the party to close rank, shuns personal aggrandizement, unite with Chief Edozie Njoku and work to build the Party to a high level to challenge other big parties in the Country. Making this view known while speaking on the matter with newsmen in Onitsha, Chikezie said that the matter is all about Laws and Politics.

* Women have been described as special breed created by God to transform, mold and build a godly and righteous nation. The Vicar, St Michael And All Angels Anglican Church, Abagana, Rev. Shedrack Obidajuo stated this in a sermon during a thanksgiving service to mark the end of the Parish’s 2024 Women August Meeting with the theme “I must eat the fruits of my labour’. Women during the annual gathering of August Meeting are exposed to contemporary challenges facing families and tutored on ways to manage them while they also discuss other ways to bring development to their churches, communities and society at large.

* Former MD of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Dr. Uche Nworah, a renowned communication expert, has urged the government to declare a state of emergency in Nigeria’s telecom sector to prevent its imminent collapse.
His call comes after a Facebook post by Anthony Okafor predicted the sector’s downfall. Nworah emphasizes the need for urgent action, stating, “A state of emergency should be declared in the sector. Nigeria is happening to the telecom sector. We should not allow the sector to collapse.”

* The Anambra State Government has taken a proactive step to enhance security within the state by releasing dedicated emergency contact numbers for reporting kidnappers and other criminal activities in the State. This is coming amid the rising concerns over the recent surge of insecurity, especially kidnapping and other violent crimes, in the state. According to a flyer issued recently, residents of Anambra are urged to call 07039896429 or 09017280990 if they witness or become aware of any suspicious or criminal activities in their area. Aside reminding the public that security is everybody’s business, this move, the flyer hints, also aims to bolster community vigilance and facilitate a quicker response from security agencies.

* The National Coordinator of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, has dismissed as fake news, reports of a crisis in the Anambra State House of Assembly over the recent amendment of the Local Government Electoral Law. In a statement, Obigwe described the reports as a “fabricated tissue of lies” and urged the public to disregard them. He stated that the amendment was made with the unanimous support of the majority members of the House of Assembly and that there was no dissenting voice that could affect the decision

* The State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has urged the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, (ANSIEC), to extend the date to between 90-150 days to enable the party participate fully. Anambra APC Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, made the call while briefing Journalists in Awka, on Saturday.

Ejidike said the call was necessary to enable APC as the major opposition party and other political parties in the state to be fully prepared in the all-important exercise.

* The youths of Ayamelum Local Government Area (LGA) are happy following the election of Comrade Nwabude Emeka Morrison as the Majority Leader of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Anambra State chapter. Comrade Mgbechi Emmanuel Igwebuike , a youth stakeholder in Ayamelum LGA, expressed gratitude to God for this opportunity and thanked the youths of Anambra for trusting Comrade Nwabude with this leadership role. Igwebuike acknowledged that the task ahead will be challenging but assured Comrade Nwabude of the unwavering support and prayers of Ayamelum youths.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Local Government, Hon. Shedrack Azubuike in a bid to ensure the security of Ndi Orumba South has recently conducted the election of new leadership and of Orumba South Cyclist Union and as well swore them into office. The election was the aftermath of the unification of the cyclist under one central umbrella which will be overseed by the local government.

* The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Anambra State Chapter, has successfully elected Comrade Ezeani Chidubem Mayor as its new Speaker during the 4th Republic election. The election, held at the Retreat Centre in Okpuno, Awka at the weekend witnessed the participation of over 250 youth leaders from the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Anambra State, who served as delegates. In his acceptance speech, Comrade Ezeani Chidubem Mayor expressed his gratitude to the National YAN and the state executives for entrusting him with the leadership role.

* The Rotary Club of Awka GRA District has installed Rotarian Martin Nzeocha as its new president. Nzeocha became the club’s 23rd President, taking over the baton of leadership from Rtn. Ugo Benitez Ibeanu, who served out his 2023/ 2024 tenure as the 22nd president of the club.
The installation ceremony which was held in Awka, Anambra State capital, attracted eminent personalities and friends from diverse fields, who trooped in to show love and support to the new leadership.
