* The Chief Staff to Anambra State Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo and First Lady, Mrs Nonye Soludo on their commitment towards the betterment of the people, stating that they have taken serious interest in people living with disabilities. He also appreciated women humanitarian workers for their commitment under harsh conditions to reach difficult terrains to deliver aid to victims of conflict across the world as the World commemorates 2024 World Humanitarian Day. He lauded the courage of women humanitarian workers who put their lives at risk to render aid to victims of conflicts across the globe.

* The Anambra State House of Assembly has reacted to the comment by the national chairman of Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Mr. Yusuf Mamman Dantalle concerning the recently amended Anambra State Electoral law, describing his position on the matter as unnecessary spread of misinformation. The speaker of the house, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, who spoke through his Special Assistant, Mr. Franklin Osuagwu, reminded the IPAC chairman that the forthcoming local government election is firmly within the jurisdiction of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC). The speaker explained that the intention behind the amended law is to ensure that the people of Anambra State, under the leadership of their respective state party chairmen, have the primary role in nominating candidates for the election.

* The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Anambra Branch on Thursday directed it members to withdraw clinical services in all private and public hospital, with immediate effect. The NMA Anambra branch said this in a statement signed signed by Dr. Princeston Okam and Dr. Ifeanyi Obiaeli after at the end of its emergency meeting on Thursday. The NMA said the directive followed the kidnap of their colleague, Dr. Stephen Ezeh who was kidnapped and still being held in captivity since August 15.

* A former governorship aspirant in Anambra State, Chief Rommy Okoli has
called on politicians and governments at all levels to be responsible and responsive to the needs of the masses when making their policies. The elder Statesman made the call at a news briefing in Awka as part of the activities to mark his birthday. Okoli said the level of hunger and poverty among the people was worrisome, noting that it demanded an urgent and deliberate policy measure to address them.

* Protesters from Awba Ofemili, Awka North North Local Government Area, Anambra State, stormed Government House, Awka, where they protested alleged killings, burning of houses, forceful consfiscation of 2000 bags of rice, goats, land grabbing, among others, against the monarch, Igwe Ernest Maduagwuna and the community security vigilante, demanding monarch’s dethronement. The protesters carried placards with the inscription: “We say no to killings, imposition of President Generals, burning of houses, forceful seizure of people’s rice and goats, land grabbing, Soludo dethrone Igwe Maduagwuna and sack vampire Chief security officer, Polycap Ndukife,” among others. Speaking through their spokesman, Dr. Nice M. Mekoh, the protesters said that over 15 houses were set ablaze, 2,000 bags of rice, scores of goats forcefully confiscated from their owners and reportedly sold to traders in Onitsha

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South LGA, Hon. Amaka Obi alongside Idemili South local government APGA Chairman, Chief Kizito Anoliefo has visited the Chairman of Federal Civil Service Commission, Chief Engr. Emeka Muoma at his office, Abuja.
Hon. Obi while speaking said the essence of the visit is to seek partnership under Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP), in other to take Idemili south council area to greater height.

* The Member representing Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Hon. Maureen Chinwe Gwacham has urged women to continue their crucial roles in nation-building through their contributions within families and the broader society. Hon. Gwacham delivered this message during the 2024 August Meeting, held at St. James Anglican Church, Umunya; Christ the King Parish, Omoh; and the Catholic Church in Igbakwu, where she was ably represented by Okikadigbo Oguno Ifeanyi at St. James Anglican Church, and Hon. Caroline Onuorah at both Christ the King Parish and the Catholic Church in Igbakwu.

* A 38-year old woman, Amarachukwu Happiness Nzekwe has been arrested for allegedly inflicting injury on the body of her 13-year old nephew with heated laundry iron in Anambra State. The incident which went viral on social media was brought to the attention of the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo. The suspect, a nurse from Ezinifite in Aguata local government area of the state accused the victim of stealing from her. She reportedly locked him up at home without any proper medication attention after the abuse.

* The Managing Director (MD) and Chief executive Officer (CEO) of Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA)
Mr. Mike Ozoemena has urged ndi Anambra to always drop their waste appropriately and on time. Ozoemena while speaking in an interview in his office on Thursday said waste should be dropped from 5:pm to 6:am in order for the agency to carry it before 10:am. He frowned at those disposing waste at drinages to stop.

* The Onitsha country club has added to it’s array of sporting facilities by commissioning the newly renovated state of the art squash hall which had been abandoned for over four decades. The renovation of the historic Squash Hall is part of the clubs effort to rekindle and strengthen it’s age long relationship with the Nigerian army which dated back to 1974 when the vicinity served as a barack and playground for the Nigerian Army. The hall was named after HRM Igwe Charles Ezeudeogu, Igwe Orazulunye, Obi lol of Ichida, for his active involvement contributions and impact to the club.
