* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has meet with Traditional Rulers, Presidents General, Transition Committee Chairmen and Service Chiefs of different security agencies in the state. Soludo while speaking to journalists shortly after the closed door meeting held at the International Convention Centre, Awka on Thursday, revealed that security issues and the forthcoming local government elections, topped discussions. He noted that even though Anambra is alot safer, the meeting was to discuss what he termed systemic insecurity in the state and how his administration will continue to respond and improve on the situation.
* A-two day Town Hall Meeting on Implementing Host Communities’ Provisions in the Petroleum Industry Act, (PIA) has kicked off in Awka, with a call on host communities to see the natural resource as a blessing and not avenue for war. The town hall meeting, organised by Anambra State Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in partnership with African Centre for Leadership Strategy and Development, was aimed at promoting sustainable development and addressing concerns of host communities and sundry stakeholders in the petroleum industry. The commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barr. Anthony Ifeanya while
addressing participants drawn from the host communities, relevant ministries and agencies, the academia, partners, among others, applauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his doggedness in ensuring that Anambra State gets its rightful share as an Oil producing state in Nigeria.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South LGA Hon. Shedrack Azubuike has assured the patriotic people of Orumba South that his vision is to serve them and provide all the infrastructure needed to take Orumba South to greater height. He said that, in few months as the TC Chairman of the council area, he has been able to change the narrative for good, in terms of education, human capital development, health, environment and many others, stating that he will continue working for the benefit of the people, council area and humanity at large.
* In a follow-up of an investigation of a kidnap incident in Aguata reported to the Police sometime last year, Joint Security Operatives comprising of Military, Civil Defence and Other Security Forces, working on credible information, have arrested two notorious secessionist group members. The group involved in kidnapping, car snatching, and armed robbery operating at uga, Ekwulobia, Umuchu, Nkpologu, Ezinifite, Aguata environs. According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, among the two suspects’ names withheld, one has bullet wounds on his leg while the other a fake pastor preparing criminal charms for the gang members have confessed to the crime and is already assisting the Police in apprehending other gang members.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike says the State government is building a healthcare system that would be rendering quality, affordable and accessible health care services to the people of the state at all times. Dr. Obidike disclosed this during a one day “Non-residential Training for Enhancing Healthcare Delivery Through Promoting Awareness on Patients’ Bill of Rights” in Awka.
* The Chief of Staff to Anambra State Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi has said, Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo is committed to running a transparent, accountable and all-inclusive government aimed at delivering good governance and quality service to Ndi Anambra. Ezeajughi stated this after Governor Soludo held crucial meeting with Security Chiefs, Traditional Rulers and all the President General in Anambra State, stating that he is meeting citizens’ expectations through democratic dividends and providing quality governance to the good people of Anambra State.
He commended Governor Soludo’s unwavering advocacy for transparency, accountability and inclusiveness, stating that Anambra State has gone through alot in terms of insecurity and applauded the courage of Governor Soludo for changing the narratives.
* A total of one thousand women petty traders in Anambra State have received recapitalization grants of fifty thousand naira each from the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Economic Empowerment Programme. The initiative is championed by the president’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and is aimed at improving the living standards of Nigerians, particularly women, including those who are into petty businesses. While flagging off the distribution of the cash at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, Mrs Tinubu, whose address was read by Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, said that the grant is part of the RHI’s target to make every woman in Nigeria self-reliant.
* Chief Ikechukwu Ejesieme has declared that he is the authentic chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State and that any attempt by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) to deal with any other person as state chairman of the party in the forthcoming Local Government Elections would amount to an exercise in futility. Ejesieme who made the declarative statement during an interview at the party secretariat Udoka Housing Estate Awka, said the entire exercise would be null and void because the law recognised him as the authentic state chairman of APGA in Anambra.
* GEANCO Community Center, Cecilia Okoye Academy has held its Science Technology Engineering Mathematics, STEM day at its Campus 2 in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. The programme with the themed “Future Tech: Exploring Emerging Technologies” was designed for senior secondary school students to ignite curiosity about technology, foster innovation, and prepare the next generation for the rapidly evolving technology landscape.
* The members of staff of the Federal Constituency Office of Prof. Oby Lilian Orogbu member for Awka North and South Federal led by the Director General Sir. Louis Ekenedilichukwu Orogbu were at Awka village Ifitedunu in Dunukofia LGA to commiserate with Chief Ugochukwu Umeh over the death of his Son, Master Divine Ugochukwu. Prof. Orogbu who spoke through the Director General of her Federal Constituency Office, Sir Louis Ekenedilichukwu Orogbu urged the family of Ugochukwu to take solace in the Lord and reminded them that as Christians they should not mourn like those who do not have hope. She equally enjoined them to be strong, steadfast and commit everything especially the soul of Divine Ugochukwu into the hand of God.
