* The Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, has donated a generator set to Nibo Ward three to provide a standby power source for the community’s recently commissioned borehole water project. The donation comes in fulfilment of the lawmaker’s promise, made barely two months he commissioned and handed the water facility to Nibo community. The generator set was formally presented to the community by Hon. Innocent Obinna, Director-General of the Deputy Speaker’s campaign organization, on behalf of the lawmaker.

* Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, ANSIEC, has met with security chiefs to ensure a free, fair and credible local government poll slated for September 28. The meeting, which was held at the conference room of the commission’s headquarters in Awka, had in attendance representatives of the security agencies in the state. In her remarks, Chairman of the commission, Magistrate Genevieve Osakwe revealed that the aim of the meeting was to interact and to come up with strategic security plans to tackle insecurity and ensure the elections are safely conducted in highly sensitive Local Government Areas.

* The Anambra State Chapter of the Labour Party (LP), recognized by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has dismissed claims of boycotting the September 28 local government elections in the state. Anambra State Chairman of the party, Mr. Peter Okoye made this clear during a stakeholders’ meeting in Awka, the state capital. Okoye stated that the party would meet with major stakeholders, including its 2023 presidential candidate, next week to announce its programmes and subsequently participate in the polls.

* Legacy University Okija in Ihiala LGA, Anambra State has held its eighth matriculation ceremony for the new academic session, welcoming new students to the institution. Member representing Ihiala two Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Golden lloh in his address, commended Legacy University Okija for its commitment to excellence and community service, urging matriculating students to take their education serious in order to add value to their family and society at large.

* Jubilation in Ukwulu, as the Ukwulu Town Union – Women Wing (UTU-WW) honoured the Transition Committee Chairman of Dunukofia LGA, Hon. C. C. Ozumba with a special recognition of
‘Okaobuluzo one of Ukwulu community’. The special recognition was an honour they gave to him during their annual August general meeting of the women, in appreciation to him for the ongoing Community Choose Your Own Projects he is presently executing in the community, and across the communities in Dunukofia local government area, at large.

* The Managing Director of Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA), who is also the convener of Soludo Volunteer Force (SVF), Mr. Mike Ozoemena has said that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is devoted to providing good leadership and inclusive governance. He made this statement after the meeting of Governor Soludo with security chiefs, traditional rulers, and all the community president general in the state, stating that Soludo is devoted to good governance. While urging ndi Anambra to join hands with the Governor to achieve a sustainable, greener, livable, and prosperous state.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North local government area, Hon. Stanley Nkwoka has reassured the people of the council area that his administration will continue to promote peace in order to enhance good governance and rapid development. He said that, rapid progress could only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and cohesion in the council area, urging all to always live in peace and harmony.

* The Ihuana—Adazienu Youths gathered to declare their unending support for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the administration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State.

The youths commended Soludo for his efforts in initiating and executing two road projects in Adazienu, which have significantly improved the infrastructure and quality of life in the area.

* Anambra State Government through the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare has issued a warning to the family of Aghaji, particularly Emmanuel Aghaji in Umuokwara Kindred, Amankwu Quarters Umuezeiyi village, Achina in Aguata Local Government Area against excluding their late brother’s widow, Mrs Chinelo Aghaji from participating in the burial of her late husband. This warning came following a report made by the widow, Mrs Aghaji, alleging that upon her husband’s death, her in-laws took her two kids from her and forcefully ejected her from her house. She also said that the matter has been reported to their kindred for peaceful resolution but her late husband’s brother Emmanuel Aghaji who teamed up with other of his siblings refused all forms of mediation and threatened to deal with her if she ever comes close to her children and the Aghaji family.

* The 2024 International Prophetic Prayer Conference of the Intercessory Army for Christ Ministry, INC, WARMEN, kicked off in Awka. The programme which is the vision of the President of the ministry, Venerable Chima Ugochukwu and organised by the Apostolic Coalition Of Prophetic Elders, ACPE, saw ministers of God from across the globe, Christians from different denominations and churches converged to seek God’s face to the problems facing their families and challenges bedveilling the society. This year’s programme with the theme, ‘Understanding The Last Days’, is the 25th in the series and will last for one week with programmes and prayers sessions that is expected to meet the spiritual yearnings of attendees during the programme.
