Anambra LG Election: ANSIEC Takes Sensitisation Campaign To Ogbaru, Onitsha LGA’s

 

…Insists On Free, Fair And Credible Polls

Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, ANSIEC has urged residents and political parties not to be discouraged by the different propaganda going on in sections of the media and social media and participate actively during the election and assured them their votes will speak through the results.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the Chairman of ANSIEC, Magistrate Genevieve Osakwe warned political actors in the state against the practice godfatherism in the upcoming Local Government elections in the state, promising that the people’s votes will count across the 21 council areas.

Osakwe stated this during the commission’s tour of Ogbaru, Onitsha North and South council areas of the state, in preparation for the September 28 polls.

According to Magistrate Osakwe who was represented by Commissioner in-charge of Information and Publicity, Sir Anthony Nnalue, the reasons for the tour include to assess the council areas in preparation for the exercise and to sensitise the people in the council areas on the timetable of the commission for polls,
promising that the election will be credible, free and fair.

On her part, the Commissioner in-charge of Welfare and Field Services, Mrs. Bernadine Obande appealed to stakeholders to ensure that conducive atmosphere is provided for staff and the electorate during the process and enjoined all to mobilize eligible and registered voters to participate in the process.

The stakeholders meetings were well attended by the Transition Committee Chairmen of the Local Government Areas and party representatives.
