* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has conveyed hearty congratulations to the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Nkemakonam Udeze on the occasion of his birthday today.
Soludo In his congratulatory message signed by Mr. Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to the Governor, described the Speaker as a distinguished parliamentarian and politician of remarkable integrity, whose leadership of the House since 2023 has been exemplary, showcasing his steadfast dedication to legislative excellence and the progress of Anambra State.

* The Akaoma Heart-to-Heart, a non-governmental charity organization founded by Hon. Chinedu Benjamin Obidigwe, former House of Representatives member representing Anambra East/West Federal Constituency, has, on behalf of the executive and members of his foundation, congratulated all the chairmen and councilors elected in the recently concluded Anambra State local government elections held on Saturday, September 28.
Chief Obidigwe, who campaigned vigorously ahead of the election, described their election as a well-deserved landslide victory.

*The Commander, Dobe Awka Ocha Enforcement Team, Prince Ikechukwu Henry Ndigwe has extended his heartfelt congratulation to Prince Edu Okafor on his successful swearing in as the lastest Mayor of Awka Capital City.

* Senator Victor Umeh has commenced the construction of one block of six classrooms and toilets at Eziogboo Primary School Amansea in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
This project is intended to curb the problem of inadequate conducive learning environment in the school. Moreso that a conducive environment is necessary for both teachers and students for effective teaching and learning respectively.
Residents of Amansea Town expressed gratitude to Senator Victor Umeh for remembering their community.
* A prominent investigative journalist and a world peace advocate, Ambassador Karen James, has urged the Police Commission to take immediate action in ensuring that the faces and identities of all dismissed or resigned officers are made public.
This call is being made to safeguard society and prevent potential criminal activities that could arise from such individuals operating without accountability.
According to the Ambassador she said that it is for the safety of the community, it is crucial that the commission withdraw any property belonging to the Nigeria Police Force from these officers, including ID cards and uniforms. By making the identities of these officers public, the commission can help minimise the risk of misconduct or unlawful activities, instilling trust within the community.
Ambassador Karen James, the advocate behind this call, emphasised that immediate and transparent action by the commission will help reinforce public safety and maintain the integrity of law enforcement agencies. The public awaits the commission’s swift response to ensure the protection of citizens and the prevention of potential future criminal threats.
* Anambra State Government have been called to consider the establishment of special courts dedicated to handling cases related to disabilities.
The call was made during a workshop organised by the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission (ASDRC) with support from the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) in Awka over the weekend, PWDs emphasised the importance of creating specialised courts to ensure the protection of their rights and the delivery of justice in cases involving persons with disabilities.
The demand for special courts for disability-related cases comes amidst ongoing efforts to promote the rights of persons with disabilities in the state.
* Anambra State Housing Commissioner, Hon. Pauly Onyeka has emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency by public office holders as a measure that will exalt them before the public in future.
The Commissioner stated this while receiving officers from the Bureau of Code of Conducts, Anambra State Office, at Jerome Udorji Secretariat Office Complex, Awka, during their advocacy visit to the ministry.
According to Onyeka, Nigeria is a nation that sometimes, when l look at the behaviour of people, l begin to wonder whether we are progressing or in retrogression because this exercise, for me, is a civic responsibility for any official or government personell”.
* The Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) has enjoined Market Leaders, Traders and Importers under the auspices of Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA) collaborate with SON in combating the proliferation of substandard products saying that together they could build a healthier, more prosperous, and successful nation.
Speaking during the Public/Stakeholders sensitization in Onitsha, Anambra State, the Director General/Chief Executive of SON, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke explained that the objective of the ongoing nationwide stakeholder sensitization programmes was not only to educate operators on the provisions of the SON Act No. 14 of 2015 but also to enhance stakeholder engagement and foster stronger collaborations.
The DG, represented by the Director, Public Relations Department of the SON, Mrs. Folusho Bolaji noted that the theme of the sensitization is “SON requirements and Compliance Monitoring Activities to Curb Influx and Sale of Substandard Products in Nigeria’’, and the primary objective is not only to raise awareness on all SON activities and related issues but also to enhance collaboration among stakeholders as well as foster productive partnerships, particularly in alignment with the ongoing initiatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to revamp the nation’s economy.
* Young Farmers Association Ukpo, Anambra State, has lamented escalation of economic hardship in Nigeria. The Chairman of the Association, Mr. Onyeka Igbomoji, who spoke with journalists in Awka urged the government, civil society organisations and well-to-do individuals on the need for farm revolution in the country to curb the menace.
According to Igbomoji, “as it stands now everybody is crying about the hardship hitting on the country economy, and it seems to be getting out of control.
He lamented that people can not longer afford three square meals, The hike in fuel prices, transportation costs, school fees and lack of funds is making life unbearable and difficult for everybody in across the country.
* An ex-inmate of the Medium Security Custodial Centre Awka, Anambra State Command, Ernest Okoye has been awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology by the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
Presenting the certificate to the graduand at a brief ceremony at MSCC Awka, the representative of the NOUN, Mr Ukaegbu Orji extended the felicitations and congratulations of the Vice Chancellor NOUN Prof. Olufemi Peters, to the awardee.
Orji appreciated the Controller General of Corrections Haliru Nababa, FICMC, MFR, Mni, for the opportunity given to the inmates and the provision of the enabling environment for them to study while in custody.
