….Soludo commends FG for establishing of schools protection squad
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun has has called for collective efforts in provision of the needed safety both in schools and the society at large.
Represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 13 Headquarters Ukpo, Anambra, AIG Godwin Ndidi Aghaulor at the flag-off of stakeholders forum on the security of schools in Anambra state and training of the schools protection squad, the IGP emphasized on commitment from all.
“The good news is that the challenges we face are not insurmountable. I therefore commend the National Coordinator Schools Protection Squad (SPS), CP Lanre Ogunlowo for driving the Vision-Mission of the IGP with dedication. And other stakeholders for their dedication and commitment to enhancing security and promoting education in our community through collective efforts.
” In the same vein, the Nigeria Police Force has also embraced the project by establishing, the Schools Protection Squad (SPS) in all the States of the Federation and the FCT, as well as the training of State Coordinators and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) nationwide.
” As we embark on this important assignment together, let us reaffirm our commitment to working hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, educators, and community members. Together, we can make a difference and forge a brighter tomorrow for all.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo in his speech commended the federal government for the Schools Protection Squad, SPS, initiative through the Nigeria Police Force.

Soludo described the scheme as apt and proactive measure that will ensure safety in schools in the state.
Soludo represented by his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim while intimidating the participants at the event on various achievements of his administration in the education sector, said that adequate security of students and teachers in schools across the state is paramount, and called on teachers, traditional rulers and other community heads to partner security agencies especially the Police, in the area of prompt and adequate information on security issues around their areas for timely action.
The National Coordinator, Schools Protection Squad, CP Lanre Ogunlowo,
explained that the schools protection squad initiative is aimed at providing a safe teaching and learning environment for teachers and students, encouraging all hands to be on deck in the fight against insecurity, as according to them, the police can not do it alone.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam in his remark stated that the operation is timely especially in the regard of the security concerns in the state.
CP Itam maintained that it will further increase the confidence the people have for the Police and other security agencies on in protection of lives and properties support services and other necessary assistant
” Education is the backbone of any society, and its protection is paramount. However, schools and educational institutions face numerous security threats, disrupting the learning process and putting students and staff at risk.
” To address this challenge, we must adopt a multi-faceted approach by
onducting regular security assessments and develop emergency response plans.
“Enhance access control and surveillance systems. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies. Train educators and staff on security protocols.
“The benefit of this initiative cannot be overemphasized. It will enhanced security for schools and students. It will also
improved community relations and cooperation, increased resilience to conflicts and crises and better protection of education infrastructure.
