Lawmaker ‘Ibemeka’ Champions Skill Acquisition In Njikoka One Constituency

…The target is to equip at least 1000 candidates yearly.

The member representing Njikoka One Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly Hon. Chidi Ibemeka, has commenced skilling programme to train and equip his constituents with all the necessary tools that would enable them to thrive in the marketplace.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the programme which commenced at the
St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Hall Enugwu-Ukwu, is expected to be extended throughout the Njikoka one Constituency.

Speaking in an interview, Hon. Ibemeka revealed that the skill centre was inspired by the problem of joblessness and underemployment both of which can be seriously mitigated through upskilling.

“Having seen how the youths and some productive mothers of my constituency go about seeking financial help, I decided to teach them how to fish, instead of just giving them fish.

“Skills are critical in the world’s progress so far. Therefore, I deemed it necessary to establish this skill acquisition centre to train and help in saving the future.

“Presently, we have about 450 candidates enrolled. The programme for Batch A will run for one year. By the grace of God, in the end, the serious and certified candidates recommended by the General Coordinator will get grants and support in various other means.

The lawmaker revealed that the target is to equip at least one thousand candidates yearly.

ANN gathered that the skills taught at the centre include fashion designing, clothes, bag sewing, catering and confectioneries, CCTV, solar installation amongst others.
