* The leading APC aspirant for the 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has expressed his condolences to the family of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University lecturer who was gunned down in Awka, the state capital, last weekend.
In a statement issued by his Campaign Council spokesperson, Mr. James Eze, Sir Chukwuma said, the slain lecturer, Dr. Osita Chinedu, was a brilliant young man who had shown great promise as a scholar of note. His talent would have enriched academia had he not been cut down in his prime.
Sir Chukwuma observed that civilization and human progress had very little to do with building bridges and other physical infrastructure and much more to do with the value a society places on the life of an individual.
* The Mayor of Idemili South local government area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi bagged another award of honour in recognition of good governance and development of the council area by Unique Friends Forum (UFF).
Presenting the award, the coordinator of Unique Friends Forum said, Hon. Amaka Obi stand tall in terms of providing visionary and purposeful leadership to the people of Idemili South. Hence, the award is a symbol for responsible governance and encouragement to do more.
Receiving the award, Hon. Obi appreciated the group for the honour, stating that the reward will make her to do more for her people. She dedicated the award to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Anambra First Lady, Dr. Mrs Nonye Soludo, people of the council area and all the women in the state.
* The member representing Njikoka Two Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude Akpua has distributed over 1,000 bags of rice and cash his constituents.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance party executives, old and new Chairmen at ward level, Councillors, Stakeholders, Coordinators and APGA Njikoka Working Committee also benefited from the gifts from Hon. Akpua, who is also the Deputy Majority Leader of the 8th Assembly.
In his speech, Hon. Akpua who tagged the exercise “A Day with House Member” noted that the programme became necessary considering the season of the moment, the birth of Christ which called for love, charity and generosity for overall happiness and joy of mankind.
* Anambra State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Commandant Maku Olatunde has ordered the deployment of 2407 officers and men across various parts of Anambra.
Commandant Maku stated this at the State Command Headquarters Awka during a tactical digest strategic meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Heads of Departments and Units, Composite Commanders and Tactical Commanders in line with the ” Ember Months” operational order.
According to the Anambra NSCDC boss, the deployment is targeted at strategic areas prone to threats, including all worship centres, event/recreational centres, motor parks, markets , identified routes, flashpoints, high vulnerability crime incidence areas , and critical, national, state and local government installations.
* Anambra State monthly internally generated revenue has increased from 2.2 billion during this year in 2023 to 5.2 billion in November 2024.
Senior Special Assistant to the Govenror on IGR, Amara Oyeka, disclosed this during the presentation and validation of the research activity carried out in (21) major markets in the state, across the three senatorial zones, under the Tax for Service Project implemented by Tax Justice and Governance Platform (TJ&GP) Anambra State in collaboration with the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, (CISLAC) with funding support from Oxfam Nigeria.
According to Oyeka, the result was achieved against all odds as many rich citizens of the state do not love to pay taxes, while a larger chunk of what is collected is diverted into private pockets.
* The leading aspirant for Anambra South Senatorial bye-election under the platform of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Jude Emecheta has assured the people of Anambra South that his legislative activities in the National Assembly would be a pacesetter for the transformation of the senatorial district, if supported.
Dr. Emecheta declared that he has volunteered to lead the struggle for good governance in the zone from the Red Chamber and put in place a new, qualitative representation.
While appealing to all for their support, he added that his vision is to introduce a quality and quantitative representation based on transparency, democracy and good governance.

* Ahead of the Christmas celebrations, the Mayor of Orumba South local government area, Hon. Shedrack Azubuike has flagged off palliative jobs at the dilapidated portions of Oranusi Avenue and Ndikpa Road in Umunze.
Speaking at the site, the chairman of Ndikpa community, Mr. Casmir Ilechukwu expressed his joy and happiness with the Mayor for coming to their rescue. He maintained that Ndikpa Road is like a link road that connects most parts of Umunze Ward 1 which happens to be the largest ward in the Local Government.
In response, Hon. Azubuike maintained that he will stop at nothing until Orumba South is made great. He said, he believes that with the palliative jobs, farmers won’t have much stress during the next farming season.
*Anambra State Police Command has intercepted a trending video of an unidentified lady in an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of a Commercial bank in Nnewi, who allegedly swapped an ATM Card belonging to a 58 years old handicapped woman and withdrew the sum of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000) in parts.
The Command having commenced investigations into the incident, calls on anyone with useful information, especially residents of Nnewi and environs to help in identifying the suspect for possible arrest and prosecution.

Anambra State Command, preliminary information reveals that the unidentified lady suspect disguised herself to assist the victim and swapped the ATM card of the victim and a few minutes after the suspect left the ATM spot, the quinquagenarian received several debit alerts totaling the sum of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000).
The Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam concerned about the incident directs the Public Relations Officer of the Command to contact the victim for necessary information that will aid the investigation.
The CP further directed that all intelligent gathering tools of the Command should be deployed to identify the suspect and bring her criminal gang to book.
* The Njikoka Local Government headquarters has held its end-of-year Christmas party in a grand style.
In his remarks, the Mayor of Njikoka, Barrister Chinedu Dominic Ononiba in his speech, expressed appreciation for the tireless efforts of the local government workers, acknowledging their contributions to the community.
Ononiba also praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his support to workers in Anambra State and Infrastructural projects across the state.
