The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Maku Olatunde has assured Anambra citizens and residents that the NSCDC has taken proactive measures to ensure their safety and security during the new year celebration.
Commandant Maku stated this on Monday 30th of December, 2024 while on a familiarization visit to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer JEZCO Group, Chief Joseph Ezeokafor at his country home, Umuchi Ekwuluobia.
The Anambra NSCDC boss who was in Ekwuluobia, Aguata environs as part of his on the spot assessment of the deployment of human, material and operational resources, especially at identified strategic and vulnerable points across the state during the Yuletide told his host that after motivating and boasting the morale of personnel before deployment, he deemed it fit to move round the state to access their performance and fine – tune strategy and deployment strategy in order to be several miles ahead of those who are on the other side of the law.
” Following the deployment of my men with expertise in human rights, civility and professionalism to various locations across the state to enhance public confidence and provide a sense of safety during Christmas and New Year celebrations, I have been going round the state to assess the level of effectiveness of the deployment and give further directives on how to make it better ”
“I make bold to say that the enthusiasm of my personnel is unprecedented, I do not foresee any situation that will be beyond them to handle. Measures on ground are adequate for everyone to carry out their legitimate businesses and to live without let or hindrance” he said.
Maku highlighted the command’s notable achievements, including successfully combating economic saboteurs in the mining sector, eliminating unlicensed private security operatives, and reducing vandalism of critical, national, state and local government assets and infrastructure, while reaffirming the command’s zero-tolerance stance on disruptive activities and emphasizing its collaborative efforts with other security agencies to ensure public safety.
Responding, Chief Ezeokafor expressed his willingness to partner with and support the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), emphasizing the need for public support and goodwill to enable the agency to effectively protect lives and property, while also commending the NSCDC’s Anambra State Command for their notable achievements despite limited resources and logistics.

the monitoring exercise took the State Commandant to several locations including Agulu, Nanka, Oko, Ekwuluobia, Nise, Nibo, and Amawbia.
He was accompanied by a team of very senior officials, including Deputy Commandant of Corps; Prominence Ukaobi, the command’s 2ic, Deputy Commandant of Corps; Yakubu Alada, HOD Ops, Assistant Commandant of Corps; Chinenye Chinweze, AC Ops, Chief Superintendent of Corps ;Anekwe Chinyere, NSCDC Aguata Divisional Officer, Superintendent of Corps; Ugochukwu Nwafor, Armed Squad Unit Commander and Deputy Superintendent of Corps; Ifeka Nkiru, 2ic NSCDC Aguata Divisional Office among others.
