Lawmakers Urge Soludo To Prioritize Security Challenges Confronting Anambra

Anambra State’s Labour Party National Assembly Caucus have voiced their displeasure over Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s attack on Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma (Ebube Muonso) instead of addressing the pressing security challenges confronting the State.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the caucus, comprising Senator Victor Umeh, Senator Tony Nwoye, Hon. Ozodinobi George, Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, Hon. Idu Godwin Emeka, Hon. Lilian Oroegbu, Hon. Aniekwe Peter, and Hon. Uchenna Harris Annie-Okonkwo, expressed disappointment over the government’s lack of action.

They pointed to the abduction of their colleague, Hon. Justice Azuka (representing Onitsha North Constituency), and Government passivity as evidence of the administration’s failure to prioritize security.

In a strongly worded statement, the lawmakers lamented bitterly over the increasing spate of kidnappings across the state, including the captivity of Rev. Fr. Joseph Igweagu and two Reverend Sisters.

The caucus emphasized that the criticism of Fr. Ebube Muonso was unwarranted, noting that the cleric message was based on the rising insecurity in the state and to urge the government to urgently tackle it.

The lawmakers reiterated that security is the primary responsibility of any government and called on Governor Soludo to collaborate with legislators and other stakeholders to address the growing threat.

The caucus also urged the administration to shift its focus from antagonizing religious leaders like Fr. Ebube Muonso to channeling the state’s resources toward safeguarding lives and property.

They warned against further attacks on Fr. Ebube Muonso, urging the government to engage in sober reflection and proactive measures.

As insecurity continues to grip Anambra State, the Labour Party National Assembly Caucus has made it clear that the government must shift its focus to finding real solutions.

Their plea for Governor Soludo to prioritize security over political distractions resonates with the growing security challenge in the State and the urgent need to tackle it.

“We, therefore, call on Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, as the Chief Security Officer of the state, to rise to the occasion and tackle this menace because the security of lives and property is the primary purpose of government.

“Once more, we passionately appeal to the Anambra State Government and its media warriors to leave Fr. Ebube Muonso alone and instead solicit prayers from him and other men and women of God for solutions to the insecurity challenge in Anambra State.”

“As legislators at the federal level, we are also taking steps to collaborate on how best we can solve this nagging problem bedeviling our dear state,” the statement continued.

“We know that immediately after this press release, the hired media warriors and Anambra State Government officials will unleash a tirade against us and call us worse names than they are calling Fr. Ebube Muonso. However, that will not bother us because we are used to it. Still, we appeal to the agents and media warriors of the Anambra State Government to leave Fr. Ebube Muonso alone.”
