Anambra Women Mourn ‘Mrs Nwaka’ Who Was Burnt To Death By Her Husband

Women from the 179 communities in Anambra State have embarked on a peaceful demonstration to mourn Late Mrs Blessing Nwaka.

Angel Network News (ANN) recalls that
Mrs. Nwaka was burnt to death by her husband in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The protesters were made up of reputable women from different associations including Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU led by the National President of ASATU Women Wing, Mrs Ify Okaro, led their protest to the office of the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare at Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Center Awka.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Mrs. Okaro warned their male counterparts to handle their spouses with care and love and avoid situations that will lead to violence.

Also, the representative of the Women Leaders of communities, Mrs Josine Unachukwu, promised to raze down houses of anyone that will kill their spouses again in the state.

Responding, Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo assured the women of the resolve of the wife of the Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo to ensure that justice takes its full course and called on men to always report their wives to the ministry instead of taking laws into their hands.
