Anambra State: CP Urutugo Moves to End Crimes and Criminalities

Anambra State is on the brink of becoming the safest state in Nigeria, thanks to the proactive measures being implemented by the new Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Ikioye Orutugo.

Since assuming office, CP Orutugo has prioritized the eradication of crimes and criminal activities, aiming to restore peace and security across the state.

In a series of initiatives, CP Orutugo has mandated a collaborative approach involving law enforcement agencies, community leaders, and citizens to address the root causes of insecurity. He stated, “Our primary focus is to create an environment where every citizen feels safe and secure. We cannot achieve this alone; we need the active participation of the community.”

To achieve this goal, CP Orutugo has intensified patrols in crime-prone areas and established specialized task forces dedicated to tackling issues such as armed robbery, kidnapping, and cultism. Furthermore, he has emphasized the importance of intelligence-led policing, encouraging residents to report suspicious activities to the police promptly.

“The safety of our people is paramount. We are leveraging modern technology and intelligence-sharing to respond more effectively to crimes,” he said. He also outlined plans to engage youth in constructive activities, aiming to deter them from involvement in crime by providing opportunities for education and employment.

CP Orutugo has committed to fostering better relationships between the police and the community, recognizing that trust is crucial for effective policing. He encouraged residents to see the police as allies in ensuring safety rather than adversaries.

“We are here to serve and protect our community. We urge residents to partner with us by sharing information and being vigilant,” Urutugo remarked.

With these robust strategies in place, Anambra State is well on its way to becoming Nigeria’s safest state, setting a precedent for others to follow in the fight against crime and criminality. CP Orutugo’s unwavering commitment and innovative approaches are expected to yield significant improvements in the state’s security landscape.
